Snowed quite heavily in East Riding earlier this evening with blizzard conditions on my drive home to Withernsea, gave a covering for a while but soon melted due to wet ground underneath, been light snow showers since with slight covering again now, quite surprising really as we usually get rain/sleet at my coastal location from a northerly off the sea these days. Co-incidentally it is one day earlier than the first snow last year which turned out to be the only snow of the winter, hope this won't be the same...

Level snow depth now 13cm here. Looks like the heaviest showers passed to the east of us overnight but we still got clipped by quite a few. The snow is more sticky today - just perfect for making snowballs!

Hellish snow and drifting over N.Y.Moors this morning all main roads are pretty much closed due to stuck vehicles and drifting snow on higher routes -  though serious 4x4 may get through..

About 6" lying here but considerable drifting even in the dale.

Some serious snow on some of these.

By yesterday evening it was cold enough that even the more coastal routes were badly affected and long queues of stationary traffic built up from people trying to get home from work etc.

They won't be able to go today so overall less problems I suppose.

Minor roads would normally be cleared by farm tractor ploughs but they are prioritising main roads first so won't get through sideroads until later in the day or tomorrow.

Nobody would be going far anyway even serious 4x4 vehicles are just going to get caught behind other vehicles ground to a halt.

These intense snow showers drop inches in a few minutes so if a road is cleared it is bad again in minutes especially higher up where there's severe drifting too.

That's A169 - quite near coast and had nothing until 4pm yesterday

York seems to have a bit of snow again this morning.

Heavy shower passed through East Leeds, likely fresh covering in places there.  Gone dark here but comfortably missed.

Although no snow here, there has been plenty further west from the Pembrokeshire Dangler.

Edit: reports of 15cm and even snow cover on the beaches!

A good few cm of snow in Cornwall this morning according to my sister.

They've done well in recent years.

Those pesky phantom showers further north are ruining what supposed to be a full sunshine day but kept seeing thin clouds coming and going with nuisance, just blocking the sun than having snow or full sunshine.  The sooner those stupid fake showers go away the better is to get clear skies back if we can't get snow.  Those are fake and not real showers as if they are real I should be seeing snowfalling from it to proof it.

Temperature fell down to as low as -0.3 C with a touch of frost in the early hours even here at Folkestone harbour. While on the whole it isn't that exceptional for the British Isles at this time of the year, it is quite unusual for my south-facing low lying coastal location for mid-November, especially as I'm usually hard pressed to experience that in deep winter!

Home location: Folkestone Harbour.

One thing I've noticed is that some snow cover from yesterday morning is still around despite it not being that much and quite wet at the time. Snowfall in November doesn't melt easily with the very weak sunlight. In February and especially March nothing short of an ice day (and sometimes not even that) keeps snowcover around.

Just coming into York and a thin snow cover here, the NYM looked very white as I passed through Thirsk and Northallerton looking east. I suspect theres not much south of York

Reports coming in from the Preseli mountains in Pembrokeshire suggest that they're getting absolutely buried. Well over a foot on higher ground. Atrocious conditions.

I like this pic

The water is the Menai Straight (so the sea)

I can see why the A939 is closed, but it does look very pretty. It has been relatively dry here in Aberdeen today and therefore any snow melt has been reasonably limited and it may freeze up tonight. Currently there is about 3 inches of level snow in my garden.

Small parts of Pembrokeshire probably could have done with a red warning today; that's how crazy it is there.
