Plenty of bright spells with showery clouds, throwing down some very cold rain on occasion. 4.9c and extremely windy, which is making it feel a lot colder. The dogs walk was kept relatively short because it feels so bitter out there! Overnight low was only 3c. It's forecast to be much colder tonight.

From 9.15am some heavy rain coming in from the N.E giving 3.5mm. At that point it was just 3.5C and DP was 0.5C. I'm sure this would have fallen as snow pre-1980's and suspect even today it will given some snow on higher ground. Eased off now and risen to 3.9C, DP 1.5C. Cold wind as well so as unpleasant as it gets.

Lovely and sunny end to the day.

Temp 1.5c after a high of 2.8c

We still have a covering of snow on the back lawn which should stay intact now for a couple of days.

Mostly cloudy with a cutting NNW'ly wind blowing away. It's been a cold and rather wet day, a real shock to the system compared to the recent balmy weather. Not even a hint of sleet here, mind you, and that's not unexpected given how rare it is these days. No surprise either to see places like Brian's getting snow - they always seem to get it, and my advice is make the most of it as my climate is coming your way sooner or later!

It's currently 3.9, dew 1.9, after a high of just 5.9 - around 4C below average, which is noteworthy these days.

Down to -0.4c here now, really is going to depend if that biting wind dies as to whether we actually get a frost but kinda immaterial to some extent.

6mm of rain, sleet and wet snow today.

Today was once again our coldest day of this autumn so far with a maximum temperature of only 3.3°C with that coming with a total of 3.2 hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end.

As I write, the temperature here in Edinburgh has already dropped to around -1°C with an official air frost already being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank and Edinburgh Airport. With most of the night still to go, this already also makes tonight our coldest night of this autumn so far.

Clear, 1°C. I doubt we shall see much snow here today. Maybe in the afternoon...

The first air frost of the season, and a penetrating one at that! It's breezy from the NNW, partly cloudy, -0.4, dew -2.8, and that's the overnight low.

Yesterday's high was a cold 5.9C and there was 4.8mm of rain.,

In contrast, it’s warming up here a bit with the showers more wet than white now.

It still looks like being a bit messy on the roads though with about 8-10 cm of snow outside (and I suspect a good deal more in other places). I suspect much of that may melt today.

The overnight low was -0.9c, now it's 0.6c, Thought I'd be waking to white frost but because it's so breezy the grass is crispy but not white. I guess that's a factor for the lack of frosty appearance, maybe. It's another bitter morning with some bright spells and clouds.

Sunny but rather frigid at 3.5 C & mid-70% H even though winds are lighter, even managed a touch of frost first thing. Better than this time yesterday when it was gloomy and raining.

Nice to see some seasonal weather this week following such a mild start to the month. After yesterday's brief spell of falling snow and a very bracing evening dog walk in a biting wind, the cloud cleared allowing a frosty night. Minus 3 here earlier this morning with puddles/bird bath etc still frozen. As others have noted, let's hope it won't be followed by another letdown like last year

A very light dusting of snow here about 10am.

I noticed our small water butt was frozen this morning! Tapped it and it seemed solid.

2.1c and clear.

Another freezing cold day with nagging wind. Looked like it might snow at one point this morning but stayed dry.

Still a layer of snow on my sheltered lawn and patches elsewhere.  Can see the Wolds and North York Moors from here, they look very white with a lesser cover on some of the Pennine hills in the opposite direction.

Here in Edinburgh, today was slightly milder than yesterday with a maximum temperature of 4.9°C, and with a total of 4.4 hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end.

However, the temperatures have now dropped to -1.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank once again and that already makes tonight our coldest night of this autumn so far with an official air frost being recorded at all three of my local stations here in Edinburgh.

Another minus 1C which with the slight N breeze makes another technical penetrating frost. Not a particuarly white one either. But skies look clear in the dawn. With the lowish humidities another thirsty day.

Edit. Dropped to -2C as the sun rose and wind dropped to calm.. Now on the up again but clear and sunny.

Light NNW breeze with some light passing showers. All the hail in the showers have gone. Lowest temperatures of this week was 1.7c. Current temperature is 2.6c. The warm coastal waters are probably to blame for that.
