0C here so first proper frost of the season. A bit cooler before the cloud arrived. About time too. Cloudy. Just as a test I placed the thermometer on the ground a few minutes ago and it rose to 3.1C. The residual summer heat coming out of the ground outside the office. I should really get a soil thermometer. Well maybe.

Cold and calm this morning, with a glistening hoar frost on cars and lawns - first of the season!

0.3, dew -0.6. The overnight low was so close to an air frost... 0.1C was as low as it got. Yesterday's high was 8.0, but due to low dewpoints and a brisk breeze it felt colder than that would suggest.

It's the first proper covering on The Pentlands

0.4°C and overcast here just now.

I’m expecting some rain as the area of rain/hill snow moves across. After that this evening, hopefully there will be something more wintry.

At 8.30pm last night, all the cars were frosted.

Then the cloud rolled in and, by 10.30pm, it was drizzling.

3c and damp this morning when I went out. Currently 4c and the wind's got up.

Mostly cloudy but dry. 4.9 C at noon is classed as quite chilly but thankfully winds are light so it didn't feel raw cold when I popped out to get papers. Quite different to the 15 C to 17 C last week.

The worst kind of day today. Grey and cold with spells of icy rain, sleet and wintry hail. High of 7.1°C, but the temperature hovered around 2°C for most of the morning.

Well apart from sleet first thing, it has rained all day here. The rain has got heavier in the last hour as the northerly wind freshens. 4 C at the moment but will the colder air arrive during the precipitation? I would like a period of snow before the clearance to a cold frosty night!

It'll be cold for the supporters at Hampden tonight...c'mon Scotland 😆

Yes, it's been yet another complete write-off of a day here in Edinburgh as this wet and miserable month of November in this part of the world goes on (given what this month has been like so far, it's hard to believe now that for most of this year until then, a lot of my discussions on other threads on this forum in particular were about a lack of rainfall, drought and a water scarcity crisis but it's a completely different situation now).

Regardless of whether or not we actually get any wintriness mixed in with that rain at any point in time though, today is looking set to go down as our coldest day of this autumn so far with a temperature of around 4°C which also has brought today in with a chance of bringing us our first sub 5°C maximum of this autumn.

As for tonight's game at Hampden though, I'll save that for the sports forum on this site as that is the more appropriate place for that discussion but the latest rain radar maps are showing that the rain has already cleared away through there, so maybe it might not be long before that happens here as well.

+0.1C overnight so just missed first frost of the autumn. Max a chilly 6.8C. Cloudy later with a bit of rain on the radar but nothing noticable on the ground.

Today is confirmed once again as our coldest day of this autumn so far with a maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank of just 4.2°C and on this occasion, that has also given us our first sub 5°C maximum of this season.

Meanwhile, the rain (and it has really just been rain here in NW Edinburgh despite Jerry's reports on the snow reports thread) is now finally clearing away having resulted in a total of 9.0 mm of rain being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank as a result of this particular event.

Because of that, more than 100 mm of rain has now been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank during this month for only the first time since May 2024 and despite the fact that this has been this autumn's only wetter than average month, the autumn as a whole is now also getting close to being wetter than average as a result even though we're not even all that much more than half way through this month.

A frost is forecast for here later on but the skies still need to clear before that can happen. In the meantime, the temperature in Edinburgh is around 2°C.

Not as cold as the previous night which had the first frost of the season here. But it feels colder at 4.9C and a fresh NW wind. Unpleasant and partly cloudy. Dawn visible to the SE.

Last night ended up being nowhere near as cold here as it was forecast to be because although the skies did clear in the end after the earlier rain, there continued to be too much wind around for an air frost although we did still get a ground frost as the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank dropped to 0.2°C.

That has then brought us until a clear and mostly sunny start to today, albeit with some cloud still around to my east.

Currently around 1°C here in Edinburgh
