After my hot sunny month in the Algarve, I see that my part of Edinburgh has had a mild, dry and sunny September. Pretty much the story of the year so far.
This morning it's mild, cloudy and dry with a minimum of 14 C and a light SSW wind
I'd be quite concerned if I lived in western Scotland

It's also true that last month's maximum temperatures were warmer than average but the overnight minimum temperatures were actually below average with a number of ground frosts and even that very early air frost which all meant that the temperatures in September were actually only around average overall.
However, you are right about mild, dry and sunny conditions being the story of this year and that is why I keep on referring to this year as the year in which the Sun just won't stop shining, and that is also the reason why water scarcity continues to be a major issue in many parts of Scotland, especially in NE Scotland.
Even with yesterday's rather wet and overcast conditions at times, a total of 1.1 hours of sunshine was still recorded for yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank and there has still only been one completely sunless day during this autumn so far at the very time of year when we would normally expect to start seeing more sunless days as the days continue to shorten.
The Sun isn't shining this morning though as today is starting off on a mostly dull and overcast note, but there are a few breaks in that cloud and the Sun will no doubt be out at some point in time as per usual.
The big story of the night though came from the fact that the temperatures just utterly refused to drop and this meant that the overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was a ridiculously mild 14.0°C which is more or less bringing us back into those rather stuffy conditions which we experienced quite a lot of during the summer.
There was also some overnight rain which amounted to 2.0 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank although that has now cleared away.
Currently around 14°C here in Edinburgh
