Here in Edinburgh, it's as bone dry once again as ever.

There's a lot of cloud around but also some intervals at time.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 11.4°C.

For the first time in quite a while, the Met Office are not going for a 20+°C maximum in this part of the world, but today's forecast maximums are still not far away from that and so, it would only have to be slightly warmer than forecast for yet another 20+°C to be recorded here. The forecast over the next few days is also similar so even in this less settled spell of weather, we're still really struggling to properly cool down.

Currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh as at 9am BST (08:00 UTC) this morning

Here in Edinburgh, we've just had a shower of rain and although that didn't amount to much, there are other showers in the vicinity with a band of showery rain approaching from the west.

Currently around 18°C here in Edinburgh which is around a couple of degrees cooler than at this time yesterday.

Alternating bright, hot sunshine and heavy showers. Some splendid cloud formations.

Second heavy shower of the day passing through here. Wind picked up as well with rain lashing on the windows. Not seen that for some time

Earlier on today, I said that it wouldn't take much for yet another 20+°C maximum to be recorded today even though that wasn't actually forecast to happen and yet, that is exactly what has ended up happening as today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is confirmed as 20.1°C, so it seems as though we just CANNOT cool down properly even in this less "settled" spell of weather and it also seems as though regardless of whether or not a 20+°C maximum is actually forecast, we are more or less guaranteed to get one anyway which means that even official Met Office temperature forecasts for here are a complete waste of time as we already know what our maximum temperature is going to be like anyway.

In the end, a total of just 0.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank and there were plenty of showers around today but as per usual, these have continued to produce very little in the way of actual recorded rainfall here. In fact, I don't recall seeing so many showers here at any time in my life before, only for so little in the way of actual rainfall to be officially recorded but that is just typical of what this month has been like, which is why we have such a major problem with water scarcity.

Currently around 14°C which isn't too hot, but I'm still finding it extremely stuffy in this little flat in which I live, and just can't seem to cool down. This means that also a number of people on here will say that recent days have been a lot fresher than of of late, I'm just not finding that to be the case here.

Autumn begins anew with overcast skies and that distinctive in-your-face strong southerly wind making the current 17 C feel fresh and airy - but not much rain so far much to the disappointment of my parched lawn.

Update: Ended up with a meagre 2.4 mm IMBY but it looked like other parts of Kent had a lot more.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 11.0°C.

However, the Sun is blazing into this little flat here in NW Edinburgh once again and as per usual. As a result, the temperature is now already up to around 18°C thus showing once again that it just will NOT cool down here regardless of the actual synoptic setup.

With that of course, we already know that the maximum temperature will be above 20°C here regardless of whether that is actually forecast or not and the only difference now is that the Met Office have now upgraded their forecast to actually show a 20+°C maximum not just for today, but for today as well as any rain which we get tomorrow isn't expected to arrive until the latter part of the afternoon, if we even get that rain of course.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 21.3°C as it still continues to refuse to cool down here and in fact, today was once again warmer than forecast which is typical of what this year has been like. This is showing yet again that our temperature always gets above 20°C now regardless of the actual synoptic setup and in fact, today was even warmer than yesterday in the end.

Meanwhile, a total of 3.2 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 6:40pm BST (17:40 UTC) although today appeared to much sunnier than what that total would suggest.

We did eventually see a few showers later on though and from that, a total of 2.4 mm of rain was recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank. Although that isn't all that much, that is actually more than what we've had for quite a long time.

Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 11.02°C

Today has started off with some cloud around but with the Sun streaming through as per usual and even now as it gradually clouds over, there is still some sunny intervals coming through at times.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is already up to around 18°C as we head towards what will no doubt be our usual 20+°C maximum even though the Met Office have slightly downgraded their official forecasts for today which as of yesterday, had suggested that this would happen.

It's now just started raining here in Edinburgh around an hour earlier than forecast which suggests that as this weather system is moving through more quickly than forecast, the rain will probably clear away from here more quickly in just a few hours' time.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh. The temperature hasn't much at all since my last report and has even dropped back a bit in the last hour or so which means that our ongoing run of 20+°C maximums is now finally looking likely to come to an end today.

We're back to the "23 drops per square metre" type of rainfall today! A few exceptionally brief showers have blown through but haven't even properly wet the ground.

It's currently mostly cloudy, breezy from the SW, 19.1, dew 15.8 following a high of 22.8. Last night's low was 12.0 - the first time in a while that it's been a tad below average.

Today is the 83rd day in a row with a max above 20C.

Turned out wetter than i was expecting today with persistent , but not heavy rain and drizzle from midday and still going now.

The rain has now cleared away with even a bit of sunshine to end the day.

That delivered a total of 2.6 mm of much needed rainfall to this very parched area of the country. The grass had turned yellow/brown with all of the recent dry weather but it has at least had a bit of a soaking today which should hopefully help to green it up a bit.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 19.5°C, so no 20+°C maximum today for once although we were very close to reaching that figure once again.

As at 6:40pm BST (17:40) this evening, a total of 3.0 hours of sunshine was recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank although this was mostly recorded this morning.

Currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh

A frontal system that produced worthwhile rain for first time since about mid-March. They have almost always fizzled out to patchy rain or somewhat threatening clouds for months - about 4mm.
