Appears that once again this year portsmouth has found itself 'sandwiched' between clusters of active storms.

The one giving all thunder moved in over Hayling & Chichester way 😒

Currently on holiday in Paignton, Devon.  Been some torrential rain this morning.

Thunder has occurred in parts of Devon and Cornwall.

Interesting and thundery looking week for the South

Rain enough in N. E. Somerset.

Some people walk in the rain.

Others just get wet.

Turning into a very thundery afternoon đŸŒŠī¸

The earlier storm cleared only for another build behind it... Lots of very loud booms and rumbles 🙂

First rumble of thunder heard in St Albans - to the south of us. Looks like some rain is coming our way

Thunder grumbling away to our south-west. There is a line of mature Cumulonimbus to our west and south-west

An intense storm has developed over the Grampians to the east of the A93 - lots of lightning right from formation.

It has sat almost stationary for the last hour - with bone dry ground the run-off must be considerable so flash floods are very possible.

I love the way it's described as 'blossoming'! So much lightning and dark red echoes from those storms

No prizes for guessing which one is under torrential rain from the storm cell!

Unfortunately I'm at the office in Banchory so didn't experience it first hand, but from the videos I've been sent from Aboyne it is probably the best storm we've had in the last 10 years.

I'm sure in the coming days some amazing pictures and videos will emerge!

Edit - a station at Bridge of Cally in Perthshire has had 71mm of rain so far since just before 3pm. The first 52mm fell in 20 minutes.

For info, here's the total precipitation via radar for the last 6 hours, via NetWeather. There are a few pixels of 200-250mm total rainfall, which really is remarkable!

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
