After praising this evening for being mostly sunny, we now have yet another shower of rain as I write.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Calm, clear and cooler than of late, the storm having blown away the really humid air.

13.8, dew 9.6, the low so far being 13.8. Yesterday's high was 23.2 (though the humidity made it feel warmer) and there was no rain recorded - just a few drops here and there, but nothing to trouble the gauge.

A bright and mostly sunny start to today here in Edinburgh with only small amounts of cloud around.

It's still rather breezy but it's nowhere near as windy as it was yesterday.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 11.0°C.

Currently around 13°C here in Edinburgh

A fairly sunny day again but still annoyingly windy with a maximum temperature of 18 C

A wonderful summer day today, reminiscent of those of the 90s. A refreshing breeze, cloud coming and going, plenty of sunshine but with a low dewpoint, meaning I was able to go out and do jobs like pruning the viburnum and walk my puppy and not get all sweaty or seared. It's amazing the difference a fresher airmass and a breeze can make.

22.6, dew 10.1, the high so far being 22.9.

A disappointing Wednesday. Cool, breezy and becoming quite cloudy from the west. 17 C as we approach noon.......had earmarked today as a rest day sitting in the garden as the forecast is poor for the next few days 🤔

Feels end of Summerish here at the moment.

Weaker sun, 18.0c with sunny spells and a breeze.  High 19.5c today.

Hopefully a bit warmer in the coming days - Not that it has been cool, rather average just not like the Spring/start of Summer.

In fact, we've already had more than a quarter of our 1991-2020 August average sunshine so far this month and we're not even a quarter of the way through this month so as it stands just now, we are currently on course for this month to return to being sunnier than average once again.

In addition to that, today's highest ten minute/hourly temperature reading at Edinburgh Gogarbank is 19.6°C, so there is still the chance that this could result in yet another 20+°C maximum being recorded once that is confirmed by the 18z raw BUFR/SYNOP data, so there is certainly nothing cool about today and if anything, I have still been feeling a bit too warm here in my little flat in NW Edinburgh.

Taking all of that into consideration, that is hardly what I would regard as being "disappointing".

One aspect of this summer is the number of times that the weather in any particular day has ended up being better, or not as bad as what they have been forecast to be so I wouldn't be surprised if the next few days were like that as well (I'm certainly not seeing much signs of rain which the farmers/growers need to be seeing in order for us to get out of our current water scarcity status).

EDIT:

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is unofficially confirmed as 19.8°C so we didn't quite get the 20+°C maximum which we were forecast to get today but we were very close to getting that,. Today was still warmer than yesterday and not any cooler than our 1991-2020 August average.

Just yesterday, Jerry mentioned that the forecast was poor over the coming few days but I have to ask the question of where on Earth is this poor weather which he's referring to because I'm just not seeing that here.

It is true that this morning has started off on a mostly dull and overcast note here in Edinburgh but there are a few breaks in that cloud and I'm sure that the Sun will no doubt come out soon enough as it usually always does these days with the temperature probably rising to around 20°C or possibly above yet again.

Even the overnight band of rain which was forecast has failed to materialise yet again and time and time this summer, we have kept on seeing poor forecasts, only for the weather to end up not being as bad as what was being forecast. For that reason, it is now very difficult to actually believe a single word that these forecasts say any more because the fact of the matter is that no matter how poor a forecast is now, the weather will in the vast majority of instances still end up being alright.

The end result of this is that despite the forecast of overnight rain, we are once again stuck with the usual bone dry conditions which I am getting sick and tired of seeing all the time (can someone please change the record, FFS) and this is why our farmers and growers are desperate for some much needed rainfall, and why we are still in the early warning status for water scarcity according to SEPA with no hope of getting out of that any time soon.

Last night was warmer than the previous night with an overnight minimum temperature of 13.7°C.

Currently around 15°C so to sum up, our weather here in Edinburgh is not the least bit "poor" and in my books, it's just plain old boring with nothing interesting actually happening.

Some light drizzly rain coming through now but that is just showery in nature, and probably won't result in any significant recorded rainfall at any of the nearby weather systems.

In any case, that isn't likely to be around for long anyway before it all clears away.

Some spots of rain this morning amounted to zero, mostly cloudy thereafter but a few bright spells just after lunch let the temp rise up to our max, which was 23.6c. Currently 19.5c.

I wonder if anyone else noticed the rather spectacular solar halo display on Wednesday afternoon?

One of the brighter ones I've seen, not just a 22 degree halo but tangent arcs and parhelic circle as well.
