A disappointing Wednesday. Cool, breezy and becoming quite cloudy from the west. 17 C as we approach noon.......had earmarked today as a rest day sitting in the garden as the forecast is poor for the next few days 🤔

In fact, we've already had more than a quarter of our 1991-2020 August average sunshine so far this month and we're not even a quarter of the way through this month so as it stands just now, we are currently on course for this month to return to being sunnier than average once again.
In addition to that, today's highest ten minute/hourly temperature reading at Edinburgh Gogarbank is 19.6°C, so there is still the chance that this could result in yet another 20+°C maximum being recorded once that is confirmed by the 18z raw BUFR/SYNOP data, so there is certainly nothing cool about today and if anything, I have still been feeling a bit too warm here in my little flat in NW Edinburgh.
Taking all of that into consideration, that is hardly what I would regard as being "disappointing".
One aspect of this summer is the number of times that the weather in any particular day has ended up being better, or not as bad as what they have been forecast to be so I wouldn't be surprised if the next few days were like that as well (I'm certainly not seeing much signs of rain which the farmers/growers need to be seeing in order for us to get out of our current water scarcity status).
EDIT:
Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is unofficially confirmed as 19.8°C so we didn't quite get the 20+°C maximum which we were forecast to get today but we were very close to getting that,. Today was still warmer than yesterday and not any cooler than our 1991-2020 August average.
