A mostly cloudy morning here in Hawick with just the odd brief sunny interval.

I’m keeping a close eye on a band of showers approaching from west but as it’s now just past 09:00 UTC as I write, it’s now too late for that to keep the St. Swithin’s Day legend going for this year as there wasn’t any rain during the night.

Currently, a very muggy 19°C here in Hawick.

30.3C at Charlwood near Gatwick - you have to go a long way south across France before you find anything more than a degree or so above that.

Thunderstorms beginning to brew in Normandy and along to Rouen - don't look like anything much as yet

Atrocious, frankly. Partly cloudy, calm, hot and humid.

29.9, dew 18.7, with a recent high of 30.3.

The kicker is that it's now the same temperature outside as inside (upstairs, it's a mere 26 downstairs), and as it'll chuck it down later tonight - leaving windows open means things will get soaked (as the wind will swing round to cover all angles during the rain). Not that it's going to get much below 20 tonight either... the only upside is at least the heat fans here will have a crud night's sleep, just as I will!

Roll on autumn.

Still atrocious! 27.8, dew 19.1, 31 upstairs and 27 downstairs (and yes, that's with all the tricks). It's going to be a *long* night tonight...

22.1c after a max of 27.8c, still pretty muggy although nowhere near as sweaty as yesterday, max dp of 18.9c

Hoping our 5.8mm rain this month will increase tomorrow although looks like we'll still be firing up the bbq tomorrow night.

So I'm down in the East Midlands (Notts) and trying to get to sleep in a hot house (my daughters) 27 C today and 22 C at 2230. After weeks of heat, this detached 80's house is boiling! 25 C inside 😲 They are finding this summer difficult!

Not experienced this for years, in Edinburgh the house inside temperature only reaches 21 C at it's Max. No trouble sleeping.

Outside this morning it's warm, muggy, calm and damp, with 19.2mm of rain overnight. It was still 21C at 1 AM here, and it's now 18.8, dew 18.0. The overnight low was 18.2.

18.9 C Cloudy and calm.

The BBC are still sticking with This morning, outbreaks of heavy and potentially torrential rain will push in from the south. It will be accompanied by locally gusty winds and a small risk of hail.

The radar tells me otherwise.

Here in Hawick, today started off on a dry but mostly cloudy note with even the odd sunny interval.

Just a short time ago though, it suddenly became very gloomy and as I write, it’s now absolutely chucking it down with rain here with some very intense echoes showing up on the latest radar maps and even some lightning strikes showing up just to my south.

Currently around 17°C here in Hawick.

Awful outside - I went out earlier with my pup and even after only 5 minutes my polo shirt was sticking to my back and my jeans were sticking to my legs. It's not hot (thank goodness), but that humidity... wow.

Currently mostly cloudy with the odd bit of sun making it through. 20.4, dew 19.7, 96% RH!

20.4 is the high so far.
