Very loud thunderstorm moving through. Mad lightning.

I'm just about to head out to begin my trip to Hawick as just as I'm about to do so, it's now started raining here in Edinburgh which is just like the thing.
Given all of the recent dry, hot and sunny weather, you really couldn't make that up!!
Rather cloudy and humid , 20c. Not really any sunshine yet.

My PWS
Despite the change of airmass, currently 24°C in breezy alternating sunshine and cumulus. An 18C minimum last night helped.
Retire while you can still press the 'retire now' button.
Uncomfortably windy F 4 to 6 from SW but feels warm at 22.5C. Not good for garden of course.
Showers show on radar but not over MBY. Building site across the road producing copious dust.

Left a bright, muggy Yorkshire Dales around 10am, 21 C
Now back in a wet, cooler Edinburgh, 18 C
At least I've managed a run of 3 sunny and very warm days this year. 27, 29 and 25 C

Bright and sunny spells.
23c , warm and humid
I’ve now arrived in Hawick where it’s absolutely chucking it down with rain, with a temperature of just 17°C which isn’t even the least bit warm anymore for this time of the year although it still feels a bit muggy.
A couple showers have passed through here this afternoon. After a warm and muggy feeling this morning, the temperature and DP have fallen behind the showers and it feels noticeably fresher. I'd assume that was a bit of a cold front that passed through here then.

My weather station
Light shower arrived now and temp fallen back to a fresh 17.8c
High of 26.0c in the long sunny spells which developed mid Afternoon . Still hot in the East, 27c at Leconfield, East Yorkshire right now.
A warm day, but thankfully nowhere near the 28 or 29 that the MetO had been running with (there was a last minute change to 27 this morning, I note).
In the end the maximum on a breezy day with varying amounts of cloud was 25.7. It's currently 22.1, dew 13.7, and though it's still 26 downstairs and 28 upstairs, I'm hopeful it'll cool down a fair bit overnight.
We maxed out at 24.2c today after a warm night for us of over 16c. Nice to have a strong breeze through the house, albeit a tad warm and muggy.
A few brief showers, but ultimately 0 on the gauge.
Gone are the diurnal 18c ranges down to 8c today. Monthly mean up to 19.7c now, 2nd highest on record.

The earlier rain has now cleared away here in Hawick to leave behind only a small amount of cloud and some decent sunny spells although it is also a bit breezy.
Currently around 14°C with a much fresher feel.
Really coming down here but feeling a lot less oppressive than recent nights. 13.2c.
The windy part I'm confident will come to pass as they are good/accurate at forecasting strong winds. The precipitation part is the weak area of the forecast and I'm not expecting anything notable if indeed anything. Basically, the drought continues and is enhanced by the strong winds.
Edit.
Had a text from Wessex Water yesterday evening saying the fire service are extracting water from a nearby hydrant and there might be a loss of pressure or some discolouration. I assume this is to refill their water tanks for possible fire fighting. They must do this in various places to avoid upsetting the same people over and over.
13.3c with sunny spells.
Meto rainfall chart for the S coast has a few isolated showers kicking around - I'll believe that when I see the showers.
EDIT - 0815 - well I never! One of those showers has materialised😮
Moderate rain since 9.30 am
14 C with a very light east wind
Noticeably fresher last night, and moderate rain started around half past midnight.
It's raining lightly here again now.

It’s St. Swithin’s Day and it’s raining here in Hawick (hopefully, that won’t be a bad omen for the next 40 days).
Currently around 14°C
After a morning of light to moderate rain, heavy rain has now set in with an increasing East wind.
15 C at 1400 and feeling chilly...jumper on!
Raining steadily here since about 13. 00hrs. Great!
