30.8c the high so far.  Fair bit of cloud, but some decent breaks too.  29.1c now but cloud disappearing so there could be another late push for a maximum.

30.7c the high here, down to 28.9c now so the blinds and windows can stay shut a while longer till we reach indoor parity.

Just hit a late 30C here - currently 30.1, dew 21.2. That just about finishes off an utterly cruddy month, warmer here than in 1976.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was officially 23.0°C but that comes with a total of only 4.0 hours of sunshine being recorded for today as there has been quite a lot of cloud around for much of the time.

Although it's not as hot here as it is down south, the dew point and relative humidity are quite high just now and because of that, I'm really sweltering here in my little flat to such an extent that I'm almost getting a bit of a headache with that, so the cooler and fresher air which is forecast to arrive in the coming days couldn't come quickly enough as far as I'm concerned (it's just a pity that there's no interesting thundery breakdown with that this time).

Currently around 20°C here in Edinburgh

July is off to a similar start, of course. It's currently clear and calm, still 26C indoors, 17.3, dew 15.8, and that's the overnight low so far. Yesterday's high was 30.1.

Much cooler today, it is 16C already but probably won't reach 20C quite overcast currently.

We had 29.8C max yesterday but very windy. It was a rather nice very warm summer day especially towards evening when it soon dropped below 25C - and nobody expired from heatstroke or dehydration.

The last of the 'tropical' sic nights (I hope) and no lower than 20.2C here. I've given the garden a good soak even though the BBC are confident that there will be heavy rain IMBY tomorrow. The written dross says it will rain but the pictorial stab says no way. A slightly breezier start with light NW winds and partly cloudy.

White Rabbits!!

It's the start of yet another brand new month which on this occasion, also takes us into the second half of 2025 already.

In addition to that, we have just entered into our warmest month of the year on average according to the 1991-2020 monthly averages and because of that, this is also when we enter into the period of the year which is known as high summer.

Today's forecast was relatively poor compared to other recent days, but the weather is actually turning out to be not as bad it was forecast to be.

It's mostly cloudy just now but even with that, there is still some blue sky around with even some sunny intervals around earlier on in this year in which the Sun just will not stop shining.

There was a little bit of dampness around for a while during the night but no actual recorded rainfall from that and it's completely bone dry once again. The result of this is that although June was a wetter than average month in terms of the actual rainfall amounts, the number of rain days in June has still ended up below average yet again because yesterday needed to go down as an official rain day in order for the number of rain days in June to be above average and that has just not happened at all.

As I write, the relative humidity is very high but the temperature has dropped by quite a lot with the dew point also dropping a bit, so it doesn't feel as stuffy in my flat just now as it felt last night.

Currently around 13°C here in Edinburgh and much cooler than it was at this time yesterday, following on from an overnight minimum temperature of 11.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank

Much hazier skies this morning and a muggier feeling. Low of 19C last night - Heathrow didn't dip below 22.2C all night.
