The rain was here for a short while but has already cleared away. As that has happened, the clouds have actually broke up a bit which has even allowed us to see the odd sunny interval (in this exceptionally sunny year, the Sun always seems to find a way through here in the end, regardless of the synoptic setup) although it's a bit late for that now in my books.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

A light 'count-the-raindrops-on-your-fingers' shower in the Downs this afternoon. Then the sun came out and temp in Chichester is back to 29C.

Remarkable - a light shower (despite reds on the radar), big droplets suggesting high clouds. But the remarkable bit is the temperature: 27.7, dew 16.0. I've never experienced rain at those temperatures in this country before!

EDIT: And it's over, I just had to go outside to experience it! Reminded me of being on holiday... It's left surfaces maybe 75% covered in damp splodges, didn't trouble the gauge of course! It's now 27.3, dew 16.6.

30.1, dew 16.4, with some milky higher level cloud - it's really been struggling to come in from the west, fizzling rapidly as it encounters the hostile atmosphere of Kent, and to the east it's still clear with blue skies.

It's been a stifling afternoon so far, and a very unpleasant night for sleeping beckons. It's why I'm always baffled why people want this sort of weather, especially as most don't have a/c!

PS, to Tally - I have my own web server, in reality a server in my back bedroom, which means I can just copy files on there and show them by using the image button (on the toolbar when you're posting something). There are various sites which allow you to upload an image and get a "direct link", but recently they seem to have become infested with porn ads, or delete the image after a short while. TWO does have an image uploader (which has the added bonus of images not being shrunk to a tiny size when inserted), but of course that's just for weather images!

Probably the hottest I've seen rain here as well but I was actually in Cambridge on the day the then record was broken ~ 38.6C ? and then there was a massive downpour at about 6pm when it might have still been hotter.

Did you get a brief shower earlier, out of interest? There was just enough left in those clouds for a few damp patches on the ground, but that's since evaporated at the sun's come out again... and the temperature's going back up again!

EDIT: I see you posted as I was writing that! Rain in the 30s has to be even rarer... makes me wonder what the record is here in the UK!

(There's one Cambridge station on that record-breaking day... you can see the rain, and can see the temperature plummet - in relative terms - as it started.)

It's 25C with a RH of 19C here now. This is the hottest it's been here this spell - it's just weird. I suspect it is now warmer here (at 18.21pm) than it was at any point here in any June in the 1960s.

We had a quite heavy shower here around 3pm, lasted a few minutes and soaked all surfaces. Temperature was about 26C at the time after hitting 30C earlier.

Punched up to nearly 22c in Edinburgh at 6pm but the cloud is winning out over the sun.

The sun is out here now too and it’s the warmest that it has been all day at 19.2°C currently.

It's just a pity that it increasingly never seems to be like that in the winter when we're looking for a frost at night, or some snowfalls.

A very strange sort of day here. A spell of 22°C, cloud and rain around early afternoon has been bookended by 27°C and sunshine, both in the morning and evening. It's not often you get a very warm day that does that.
