Haven't posted in here for a while, but this afternoon's transition from normal to hot was quite sudden!
It'd been an unremarkable summer's day (i.e. sunny and a bit warmer than average, temperatures varying between 20 and 22), but with a gentle breeze from the east making it feel rather pleasant. Then it clouded over, the temperature fell to 19C and I thought to myself "that forecast for 25C in an hour's time seems a bit wide of the mark!".
The skies then cleared, the sun came back out, and not long afterwards there was much creaking from upstairs (which is timber-framed). Turns out the temperature had risen from 22 to 27 in the space of 30 minutes, and the rise was quick enough that it presumably made the wood expand more quickly than it normally would! It then turned into a typical modern summer's day, i.e. sunny, very humid and hot.
Currently it's 27, dew 18.9, and it's going to be a stifling night to come. Roll on Saturday, is all I can say!
