Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank has been officially confirmed as 19.7°C which is no higher than the highest hourly temperature which I reported on here earlier on today, and this means that our wait for our first 20+°C maximum of this summer at Edinburgh Gogarbank now goes on for another day at least.
As is all too often the case at this time of the year, a developing and cooling breeze from off the North Sea has once again been the culprit for that. As I write though, a total of 12.1 hours of sunshine had been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank for today so far as at 6:40 pm BST (17:40 UTC) with the Sun still continuing to shine as I write.
However, that sunshine is becoming a bit hazier now with a more humid feel to things as the temperature is still around 19°C here in Edinburgh. However, Jerry in the south of Edinburgh will no doubt be pleased to hear that the temperature at his local weather station at Swanston is currently at 21.1°C as a result of it being that bit warmer away from the coast in these conditions, so I can at least unofficially say that Edinburgh has had its first 20+°C maximum of the summer today. Just to show much much cooler it can be closer to the east coast with that breeze from off the North Sea though, I can also report that the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has currently been pegged back at just 16.0°C.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
