Not this week nor next week will we see 30c in the U.K. That is my opinion although Friday will be close.

Flow looks quite cyclonic and these things do tend to get pushed east, it could be close.

UKV now suggesting a near miss today, 29C in the far east of E Anglia but no official stations there anyway...

If it doesn't happen today there will be a wait.

I think its 50:50, northolt or heathrow could do it. Equally a near miss in the 29s I can easily see.

Not sure we will do it today but Santon Downham could be the place to watch currently 27.4c

Lakenheath a few miles from there is reporting 30C already but that has been out of kilter with recent sites for some time. (And is not a Met station)

27.3C seems to be the current high, so its going to be close; the final adjustments are at least a degree higher or so and we probably have at least a couple of hours left of warming.

So I think we will be somewhere between 29.0C and 31.0C as a final temperature today; and as I say coin toss as to whether we end on the right side.

RAF Lakenheath reported a rounded 31, but of course that's not an official MetO station. 

The Met Office must officially declare that 30C has been reached for a winner to be declared. 

I imagine most are happy for the competition to carry on as long as possible.

Well what do you expect with those Jet Engines all the time? I simply cannot accept a Max temp unless it is from a rural station . There is no getting away from the "heat Island" effect.

Lakenheath was recording over 33C earlier. It's obviously got problems, it's been over-reading for months.

In fact Santon Downham got to 29.4 (or possibly 29.5 depending on rounding)

Battersea Heliport 29.8C - not sure if that counts as an official site?

Not quite again, 30c does take a significant push of heat normally and no guarantees we will get there in the next 2 weeks. 

The Met Office has the high as 29.4 at Santon Downham.
