Sure, would have been far more impactful if it was April reaching 30.   I remember when I was a kid and getting to 30 in July/August was a newsworthy event

I note for the last few days Lakenheath has registered temps a few degrees higher than nearest neighbours (Mildenhall and Marham) who seem quite consistent. I wonder what will happen this afternoon.

29.3c at Kew Gardens looks like the peak today. Would St James's Park squeezed a 30c. We'll never know.

Looks like the 30c is safe now. Now you watch us wait a full month before we get another attempt.

Think we'll get to 29C in the london area today and just miss out.

The closest we've come so far to reaching 30C was on May 1st. There might just be another chance at the end of May according to latest GFS models. Time will tell ......

For those that are curious, the average is around the 2nd July.

The last time it didn't happen was 1993. The latest its happened in the recent past was 20th August 1987 while the earliest seems to be 23rd May 2010.
