After a relatively bright start to today, I then ventured outside to do some food shopping and just as I did so, it started raining yet again which is just like the thing.

That rain then got heavier over time but just as I was arriving home, some blue sky started to re-appear with even a few hints of brightness and now that I'm back indoors again, it's now stopped raining.

You really couldn't make that up!!😡

Having said that though, it's still largely overcast and those hints of brightness didn't last for long.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Cloudy and dry at 10.6C with light SW wind.

The BBC forecast yesterday was for heavy rain today. The pictorial stab today has a headline of Heavy rain and moderate breeze but the written one says:

Today will start with plenty of sunshine. In the afternoon, variable cloud will develop, turning cloudy by the evening with patchy light rain pushing in from the south.

Which will it be? The radar shows some lightish stuff edging into Lyme Bay.

The Met Office on the other hand are much more bullish for meaningful/useful rain here in both forecasts picture and written.

10.2C,  sunny earlier, cloud thickening from SW.

As NMA says, BBC less confident about intensity of rain and its NE-ward extent than MetO, but both have stepped back somewhat from their forecasts yesterday.

As I've commented before almost ad infinitum, this synoptic situation seems to stump them. They pick up the trend (unsettled in this case) a week before and then fall at the final hurdle in a muddle of faltering fronts.  Even within 24 hours. Why?

I'm going to have to eat my hat but today is the first day of proper rain this spring.

Heavy cloud layer and felt a few spots in wind yet humidity is about 60%.

Measurable rain unlikely to reach here, still on less than 3mm for month.

It is actually raining here now, rather half-heartedly, which is pretty close to what the MetO forecast predicted.

The serious news from the farmers' market this morning was that the asparagus crop will be thinner and more expensive than usual. (But what the famers lose in quantity they make up in price - as Shakespeare noted the converse "Here's a farmer hanged himself on expectation of plenty")

According to the calendar, today is Good Friday but there is sadly nothing very "Good" about our weather here in Edinburgh just now.

Today started off mostly cloudy but with some clear sky to my north and even the odd hint of brightness.

However, that is as good as our weather has got today as we once again have a cold wind blowing in from off the North Sea with the temperatures rising no higher than around 9°C.

In addition to that, today has been dull and overcast throughout without even a single hint of any brightness and it's now also turned rather damp with a bit of light rain and drizzle at times.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh.

Turned out reasonably fair with the best of the sunshine in the morning before high cloud slowly thickened up in the afternoon. 12.2 C & mid-80% H from a peak of 17.4 C at 1.50 pm.
Home location: Folkestone Harbour.

12.3C cloudy; still dry - the rain ground to a halt over Hampshire yesterday and there was only just enough to wet the soil here.

9.5C with light easterly breeze and cloudy.

A lot of steady ground soaking rain last night which will go a long way to addressing the rainfall deficit this spring.

This morning started off on a mostly cloudy note once again and there is still a cool wind from off the the North Sea.

However, today has so far been much drier than yesterday up until now with occasional sunny intervals continuing to come through at times which wasn't the case yesterday.

Currently around 9°C here in Edinburgh but not feeling as cold as other recent days when we've had that wind from off the North Sea as that wind isn't as strong today.

Pretty good soaking overnight although i think it was localised as starions in the area didn't pick up more than a couple of mm.

Currently a nice spring afternoon. Breezy variable cloud although largely sunny albeit with fast moving clouds.

Temperature has made it to 18C

The Sun is now shining here in Edinburgh and today is slightly warmer than yesterday as a result.

However, there is still some cloud around and it continues to feel rather chilly in that wind which is still coming in from off the North Sea.

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh but it was around 1°C higher than that an hour or so ago.
