It has been raining lightly on an off for about 12 hours but only managed 1.2mm which is not much use really.

Still dry under trees and bushes. 8.9C

Some reasonably heavy rain here (circa 45mm/hr rate having just looked at the vp2 logs) has given us 2.4mm today. Not sure it has done much other than to make the blackbirds happy pulling out some juicy worms from the moss-ridden excuse for a lawn.

Today has been much drier here than yesterday in the end, but it has been another disappointing day with hardly even any hints of brightness throughout today, let alone any actual sunshine.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 11.9°C with just a measly half an hour of sunshine being recorded there throughout the entire day.

Currently around 9°C here in Edinburgh

Thunder and lightning here in Okehampton there was hail as well as sleet mixed in driving back from Barnstaple to Great Torrington and then Hatherleigh. Gusty winds and a temp +4.5'c and dropped to 3.5c in heavier bursts of icy precipitation.

I note quite a lot of blocking over Greenland and a -NAO, So this is probably all due to this SSW we had in MARCH. This sort of setting had occurred in winter months we could have been talking about a lot of heavy snow.

8.1C. Cloudy and windy after a smattering of overnight rain and again not enough for puddles. Just a damping. The heavier rain a few miles west.

The rain previously forecast for Friday is now absent in the forecast. (It shows in the pictorial but not the written).

The long dry spell to all intents continues.

The long dry spell eases with a heavy shower and the first puddles in this unsettled spell.

Not to last looking at the radar I think. Laundry out after this.

Perhaps the laundry should have gone out earlier to encourage a longer lasting shower. (just joking).

A remarkably cool night just gone inspite of the cloud.

Shower complete.

A dull, overcast and dreary day here in Edinburgh with a cold wind from off the North Sea and temperatures stuck at a rather abysmal 8°C.😡

To make matters even worse, it's now also started raining here as well.

The final warming is when the winds turn negative for the last time in the season - which was very early this year.

It's been extremely windy here today. If you weren't steady on your feet you could have been blown over! It's also been very sunny with some cloud and currently up o 18c in the direct sun. Great for laundry 👍

In the end, today was a complete write-off of a day here in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was just an abysmal 8.1°C which actually makes today our coldest day of the month so far within the very time of year when it should be warming up.

It was also a completely sunless day at Edinburgh Gogarbank with not even a single hint of brightness throughout the entire day and to top it all up, a total of 8.0 mm of rain has also been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank throughout today.

Absolutely pathetic!!😡

Overnight rain has now cleared away from here and we've lost that cold wind from off the North Sea which was around during yesterday, and which saw winds gusting up to around 43 mph from the ENE at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

That made yesterday our windiest day of this month so far but as well as changing direction, the wind has also died down this morning, thus making it feel nowhere near as cold.

Today is still starting off largely cloudy even with that but unlike in other recent days, there has been the odd break in that cloud cover and even the odd hint of brightness earlier on.

Currently around 7°C here in Edinburgh.
