11.2C, cloudy with a few breaks to the east. Just enough rain to wet the ground overnight.

EDIT 0715 cloud breaking up more generally

Despite all of the talk of a so-called "change" in the weather pattern here over the course of the weekend, absolutely nothing has actually changed here this morning in that regard.

There is a little bit of cloud around but not much and the Sun continues to shine as strongly as ever here in Edinburgh.

Furthermore, we haven't even had any of the overnight rain which was promised thus showing yet again that it just doesn't rain here like it used to.

Even the temperatures aren't all that much different from other recent days and if anything, this morning has actually started off a bit milder than of late. Even if the day ahead is cooler overall with a fresher feel, that isn't really going to matter anyway as it is still going to feel warm in that sunshine anyway with UV levels continuing to be as high as usual for this time of the year under these conditions.

This means that all of the talk about a change in the weather pattern over the weekend has probably just been a mere hoax which has been set up in such a way as to pretend that our weather is somehow about to become more "interesting" when the sad reality nowadays is that we just don't get changeable weather like we used to with that being well and truly shown up here this morning.

Currently around 6°C here in Edinburgh

10.1C with light SW breeze. A slight shower not enough to wet the ground before dark yesterday.

Tuesday is set to be cloudy and wet with spells of rain pushing northwards through the day according to the Met Office.

They said that a few days ago for Saturday. The breakdown modelled ok but not the rainfall amounts.

A light shower and enough to damp the ground passing through at 10.55am

Hearing the pitter patter of rain is a novelty this spring.

Finally, we have actually just had an April shower which we've haven't been seeing at all until now, but which this time of the year should be renowned for so I'm pleased to have finally seen that at long last.

Even that hasn't amounted to all that much more than a few spots of rain though which should come as no surprise now as it just doesn't rain here any more like it used to and since we just don't get changeable weather any more like we used to.

Nevertheless, today is quite a lot cooler than of late with more of a wind as well but even with that, I still wouldn't say that it's all that windy.

The big story though is with the temperature which is currently only around 10°C here in Edinburgh, so today has been around a whole 10°C cooler than yesterday as we have gone from our first 20+°C maximum yesterday to a maximum temperature for today which has been struggling to even get into double figures.

That is quite a big drop in the temperatures but other than the fact that there's a lot more cloud around today, I'm still not really seeing any massive changes in our weather especially as we are still seeing some sunny intervals at times today.

After a meagre 0.2 mm of rain fell in the early hours, today turned out fair and dry with sunny spells and partial cloud. However, the brisk SW breeze is making the current 14.8 C & high-70% H feel cool and fresh. In other words, typical mid-April fare, but we could use some soil soaking rain as my beloved lawn is starting to look thirsty.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 12.2°C which is a whole 7.9°C cooler than yesterday.

In addition to that that, there was even 0.2 mm of rain recorded there during today from a nearby shower and although that is very little, it is actually our first recorded rainfall of this entire month.

Furthermore, a total of 6.8 hours of sunshine have still been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 6:40pm BST (17:40 UTC) and this evening has been largely sunny once again.

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh

This morning started off on a chilly note with an overnight ground frost but it has now clouded over from the west and at long last, we actually have a bit of rain here for a change.

That still isn't amounting to much for now, but we do now finally have a wet surface here as a result which we haven't had for a very long time.

Meanwhile, the temperature has recovered to around 8°C here in Edinburgh

I have been waiting for quite a while for our much discussed change in our weather pattern but for the first time today, I can see that this change has now finally arrived because in complete contrast to other recent days, today has been a rather dull, damp and miserable write-off of a day and it's still raining as I write.

I have no complaints about that because we have been badly needing the rain for the gardens but this is already making our recent spell of almost constant dry and sunny weather seem like a distant memory.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh although the temperature did get up to around 11°C here for a while earlier on.

Day 20 with no rain and strong + gusty drying wind above 40mph gusts and high was 12.9C after ground frost and +0.8C first thing.

Forecast shows an hour or two of rain which might be enough to strike seeds I put in yesterday.

The rain has now cleared away here in Edinburgh and we even have some late sunshine to end the day.

Today's maximum temperature is officially confirmed as 12.0°C which is similar to yesterday.

Rain here as well, the first in three weeks. It was quite odd to hear it drumming on the roof, and the sound of cars going along a wet road.

Overcast, calm, 10.8 (dew 10.0), feeling mild and damp rather than the "nip in the air" feel of mornings over the past few weeks.

Last night's low was 10.6 and yesterday's high was 16.7.

There's been 10.6mm of rain so far, 8% of the year's rainfall to date!

9.1C. Calm and mainly cloudy.

Last nights drizzle did no more than dampen surfaces in the open. No puddles.

Dry under vegetation and trees.

Currently in the dry sandwich filling, with rain to the west and east.

BBC forecast for here

Today will see a dry and mainly cloudy start. Into the afternoon, sunny spells will develop, but so too will scattered showers. Some of these will be heavy, and possibly thundery in places.

In other words remaining largely dry for here.

This synoptic situation seems to be the one that stumps the professionals when forecasting rain for this location.

It is not as if it's a one off.

They were so bullish a few days ago for substantial rain for here last night. It merely divided in two with one part to the west and the other in the east.

Friday now looks the most likely for proper rain IMBY. At least from the pictorial stab on the page.

The written oracle from the BBC is not having any of it though.

Thursday looks to be a slightly warmer day with plenty of sunshine, and just the small chance of an isolated shower. Friday looks to be dry, but it will turn increasingly cloudy and breezy. A cloudy start on Saturday with the odd shower in spots. Turning dry later, but remaining cloudy for most. Temperatures will be around the seasonal average.

However, today has started off on a rather dull, damp and dreary note here.
