Looks like the cloud rolled in here about 4am looking at the temps.

We were at exactly 0.0c, so no "official" frost, but temps have risen since then, still cloudy and 4.1c.

The big change in recent days (I think) has been the transition to a longer unsettled period. Initially there were suggestions that it would be a brief interlude between high pressure dominated spells - that now looks a lot less likely. It is something I've noticed in the past.

A bright and sunny start to today from the word go but today started off a chilly note with a ground frost.

However, today is forecast to be much warmer than of late as we've now finally lost that wind from off the North Sea and it's currently around 9°C here in Edinburgh

Today is now our warmest day of this year so far with a temperature of around 19°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and even up to around 20°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In recent years, it has generally taken quite a long time (with that often not happening until well into May) for us to get our first 20+°C maximum of the year so for us to get so close to that today at what is still a very early stage of the overall spring/summer season is incredible.

There has still been a breeze throughout today but that breeze is coming from a completely different direction now, and feels a lot warmer as a result.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 19.6°C which also confirms today's status as our warmest day of the year so far.

In the end, a total of 12.2 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank, so today wasn't quite our sunniest day of the year so far but that is probably only due to some high cloud making the sunshine a bit hazy at times and even that is still a very impressive total for this time of the year as this exceptionally sunny spring (probably at the very least, our sunniest spring since 2020 if this year isn't actually beating that up until now) goes on.

Meanwhile, the temperature has dropped back to around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

Clear and calm, 3.8 (dew 2.8) after a low of 2.8 earlier. Yesterday's high was 13.7, and the MetO raw has a forecast high of 20 today - quite a range, but nothing compared to Aboyne yesterday!

This morning is much milder than of late so no ground frost this time, and there is also a lot of high to medium level cloud around with only the odd sunny interval for now.

Currently around 9°C here in Edinburgh

Surprised at how foggy it was here this morning, given how incredibly dry it has been lately. Clearing up now and the bits of blue already look hot. 9c currently.

Another glorious day here in Edinburgh.

In terms of the overall sunshine totals at Edinburgh Gogarbank, today won't go down as being as sunny as other recent days as there is a lot of high to medium cloud around which is making the sunshine rather hazy at times but even with that, the Sun has still been shining for most the time which means that even that cloud cover hasn't been enough to prevent today from being a generally nice and sunny day overall.

Today has also generally been not quite as warm as yesterday here in Edinburgh with the temperature only reaching around 18°C but the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has once again got up to around 20°C which is on par with yesterday's highest temperature at that particular station although it looks as though our wait for our first 20+°C maximum of the year here in Edinburgh goes on for at least another day.

Some mist this morning once again gave way to long spells of sunshine. It's been the warmest day of the year so far here, at 18.2°C, after a low of 5.3°C.

Clear,  sunny and hot. Yet, the alarm on my little Voin Maritime Barometer (purchased from the UK Weather Shop many moons ago) is flashing a warming that pressure is falling very rapidly. Still high in fairness (1016.0 hPa) but usually that sort of warning is only triggered when an active front and / or a deep low is close by. Even if there is, there is zero hints of that in the sky.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 19.1°C with a total of 11.7 hours of sunshine being recorded there for today in the end.

This makes today our second warmest day of the year so far as it was only a tiny smidgeon cooler than yesterday in the end.

This also confirms that today wasn't quite as sunny as it has been in other recent days but today's sunshine totals were still far better than what I was expecting given the amount of high to medium level cloud which was around during the day and so, our exceptionally sunny spring goes on.

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh

A chilly start to this morning with a ground frost.

However, today has started off on a bright and sunny note here without even any of the high to medium cloud which was around yesterday.

Currently around 5°C here in Edinburgh.

There has been the odd forecast which suggests that we could get our first 20+°C maximum of the year today but that is only really an outlier and the general forecast for today is for a maximum of around 18°C which would actually make today slightly cooler than yesterday.

Furthermore, it is also forecast to cloud over this afternoon so today isn't expected to be as sunny overall as other recent days despite the very sunny start to the day.

Off topic and nothing to do with high level stuff this Leonardo AW189 from Lee on Solent (see link) came over quite low well lit up a  few minutes ago.

The flight path and activity off the Devon Coast is interesting.

Otherwise a cloudy afternoon with sun shining through the cloud.

The rain further SW is tantalisingly close so the radar suggests. But not for my garden I think.
