Today is now our warmest day of this year so far with the temperature rising to 19.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and around 20°C at Edinburgh Airport.

Some more cloud is now moving in from the west and with that, the temperatures have dropped back slightly to around 19°C here in Edinburgh but most of the cloud cover for now is just in the form of high to medium cloud and for now at least, the Sun is still managing to shine through that without any problems.

Here in Edinburgh, the clouds appear to have become slightly thicker but this spell of constant warm and sunny weather just keeps on refusing to come to an end here as the Sun is still managing to be seen even through that.

As a result, the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has now jumped up to 20.18°C thus leaving Edinburgh Gogarbank as the only remaining one of my three local stations here in Edinburgh which has still to witness its first 20+°C maximum of the year.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 20.1°C which means that all three of my local stations have now had their first 20+°C maximum of the year with that happening much earlier on this occasion than in other recent years.

This also means that the forecast which I described earlier on today as just being an outlier is the one which has actually ended up being correct on this occasion with all of the other forecasts badly underestimating what today's maximum temperature was likely to be, thus showing that even outliers have to seen as actual possibilities when it comes to the general model outlook regardless of how unlikely that is to actually come off.

In the end, the Sun has finally lost its ongoing battle to be seen through all of the cloud although it still remains dry for now.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh has now dropped back to around 15°C.
