A dull and overcast day here in Edinburgh with virtually no hints of even any brightness and with a brisk wind from off the North Sea which is making it feel rather cold here.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh and not even the least bit warm here any more with the temperatures also refusing to rise.😡

BBC  - highest 23.7C at Otterbourne Waterworks (near Winchester)

Also Usk in south Wales reached 22.4C, but Scotland and Northern Ireland were cooler with temperatures of 18.3C in West Freugh and 17.2C in Armagh.

Date record is from back in 1946, Greenwich 26.5C, but 23.7 would have been a date record tomorrow i.e. the 5th (22.9C in Gwynedd 2020)

The Sun has finally made a brief appearance here in NW Edinburgh at long last but there is still that cold wind with a lot of easterly muck continuing to come in from off the North Sea and with the temperature at just a rather pathetic (for this time of year) 7.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank as I write.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Managed a peak of 21.2 C at 3.15 pm today. Back to needing the big coat tomorrow as the NE wind pick up after a weak cold front passes over us, but likely to be still dry and bright. Currently 10.8 C and skies are still clear, but it was 13 C only an hour ago.

After a fairly comfortable first half of the day with a peak of 15.7 C at 12.15 pm where I was even able to sit outside at my famed west-facing front garden with the house providing shelter from the north east breeze, it's now starting to feel properly chilly with temperatures dropping back to 11.5 C at 5 pm (when it's normally the warmest part of the day) as that NE wind picks up. Still very clear and sunny, though, perfect for drying up the freshly made paper mache hill on model railway layout in my not-quite-so-famed-east-facing-hobby-room with window open.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as just 9.3°C so today is our second consecutive day of only single figures maximum temperatures being recorded here whilst some other parts of the UK once again experience one their warmest days (if not their actual warmest day) of this year so far.

The wind has died down slightly, but is still continuing to blow in a lot of cloud from off the North Sea with only occasional sunny intervals coming through at times as a result.

Currently around 7°C here in Edinburgh and not even the least bit warm for this time of the year.😡
