Got down to -0.4c just before 11pm last night before a quick rise up to 2.6c at midnight.

Temps were stable through most of the night at about 2c but then fell again from 6am back down to -0.4c at 7:30am.

The drive in to work was a certainly a patchy fog affair, but thankfully nothing too dense.

Dull and is now wet after 3.0 mm of (mostly light) rain has fallen. 4.5 C & mid 90% H but winds are still light for now.

While I'm here, I'm wishing a fellow Folkestonian TWO-er, Steve "Gusty" Wall, of Kent a speedy recovery as he is currently in hospital following a stroke. He has been my weather mentor for many years, well before Facebook was even a thing.

Proper, thick pea soup fog here now, I can't see the village green and barely see trees there.

After a shepherds warning sunrise, then a thirty-second deluge, more or less steady rain now.

There appears to be quite a lot of lightning west of me mainly in the Channel.

Just had some brightness but now growing dull and gloomy as rain associated with an occluded front looms.

A more typical 8.2 C & 90% H but still felt cold in the fresh S breeze when I popped out to get papers.

I can now officially say that Storm Eowyn has arrived here in Edinburgh as it is currently raining as I write with a temperature of around 4°C.

At the moment, everything is still calm with not much in the way of wind but that is clearly not expected to be the case for much longer given the red wind warning for later on.

Eowyn has arrived here, too - generally blustery but with the occasional gust into the 50s roaring down the road and through the trees. It's just started to rain, and that means the next 5 hours or so will be unpleasant - mild, wet and very windy.

9.7, dew 8.5, which is the overnight high so far. The low was 4.3, and the temperature went up over 2C within an hour just after midnight.

I'm wishing I hadn't booked my dentist appointment (a few miles away) for first thing this morning, TBH! 😁

The rain has already cleared away but the wind is now gradually picking up though still not yet anything like to the extent which we're expecting later on at this stage.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is now up to around 7°C and not even the least bit cold.😡

EDIT:

It's now started raining yet again and it's now starting to get a bit noisy as the wind continues to pick up.
