Nevertheless, last night was once again our coldest night of the autumn so far with an overnight temperature of -5.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank which also makes last night our third coldest night of this year so far and our coldest night since 8 February 2024 despite the fact that we're still not yet into the actual meteorological winter.
With that though, today has also started off on a bright and sunny note once again.
Currently around -1°C here in Edinburgh.
I see there is currently a 23°C temperature difference parts of the NW Highlands (below -10°C) and parts of the south coast at +13°C.

Have recorded 18 mm of rain since it started raining yesterday evening here at Folkestone. If it is late January or early February, we'd have 18 mm of cold rain. 😂

4.9, dew 4.0, 8.8mm of rain today, 17.8mm of rain in the past 24 hours.
Max temp 1.5 C again and we are down to 0.7 C at 1445
About 40 hours of frost on the ground now. The birds are swarming round the feeders!
The frost has persisted all day once again, though not quite to the same extent as it did yesterday.
Despite clear skies though, the temperatures aren't really dropping as quickly as it has done on other recent nights and even as I write, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was still slightly above freezing at +0.2°C whereas we were already well below freezing by now on other recent nights such as last night.

Cold, crisp, clear, with the stars shining brightly, and breezy from the NW. The latter is unusual given how cold it is.
0.5, dew -1.7, the low so far being 0.4.
A proper winter-like day today.
