A quick wander through some of the stations on wunderground suggests East Kent has had a damp month now but not overly so, 80mm or so near Canterbury for example, so definitely localised and West Kent 'best' if you like rain. 

The rain intensity has been unusual in the sense of how often it's been hammering it down. There's a few parts of the local woods that have had channels carved through them with all the run off and it's more like mid winter in terms of the amount of run off still happening and mud etc.  

A bit OT but I did the London to Brighton off road last Saturday and that was entertainingly wet and muddy. It was at least sunny and warm in Brighton when I got there but I think someone said they'd had a fairly big storm the night before, which would explain the swampy descent off the downs towards the city. 

66mm for the month so far here - neither east or west Kent, but rather north Kent. It's been wet, for sure, but not remarkably so (the 91-20 average for my nearest station, Faversham, is 56mm).

What's been more noteworthy is that most of that rain was in heavy shower form, meaning most of it ended in the drains. That said, the last week has seen some lighter showers too, and the very topmost layer of soil is now mud rather than baked clay. You don't have to go down far to find the hard stuff, though, only a few mm!

Remarkable the difference from West Kent and indeed down here near Eastbourne  with over 200 mm recorded 

There were 8 completely dull days including 2 full weekends! 

Im expecting the Wirral to get up to about 40+ today, so would mean Sept being a very wet month.  I really hope we arent setting up like ( i think ) 2021.. where we had one wet month continually beaten by the next wet month. They were all 140+ months for about 5 months on the trot from Autumn

This whole system would have made such a wonderful snow event had it been 2 months + from now.

Just persistent heavy rain, not really moving. 16mm now and plenty more to come. 

That should tell you everything you need to know about how local variations in rainfall totals can be quite big even within a very small area (even though I'm in NW Edinburgh, that's still very close on the grander scheme of things to where Jerry is in the south of Edinburgh).

As I write, it's raining here in Edinburgh just now and because of that, today is already an official rain day at Edinburgh Gogarbank as there has already been more than 1 mm of rain there since 10 am BST (09:00 UTC) this morning.

In spite of that though, the number of rain days at Edinburgh Gogarbank will go down in the final statistics for this month as being below average due to the fact that today is the last day of the month, and due to the fact that today's official rain day isn't enough to bring this month's total number of rain days up to the 1991-2020 September average for that particular station.

Had to make two pretty major diversions - and still ended up driving through some seriously deep water (I let the smaller car in front go through first to check! 😁)
