Can't really complain to much. A little breezy still but dry with lots of sunshine.

Managed 17.2C

Edit: wouldn't be surprised if this area is the UK hot spot again today.

A chilly start to this morning here in Edinburgh where we have finally just had our first ground frost of this entire month although we still haven't had any actual air frosts here during this month so far.

It's also a fairly bright start to this morning but with a lot of high to medium level cloud cover.

As at 7:30am BST (06:30 UTC) this morning, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 3.7°C.

Another very pleasant day today - dry, of course, with good spells of sunshine and cumulus clouds drifting across. It's 14.0, dew 4.0, with a high so far of 14.3. The overnight low was 5.2, so pretty much bang-on average for the time of year.

Another day, more rain.

Even yesterday, which was supposed to be dry, had a couple of beefy showers.

Poor forecasting for the south east quadrant today. The cold front was expected to weaken and move south quickly today. Instead we are caught in these slow moving bands of showers which are still plaguing us now.

Given the northerly airflow, it is exactly what you hope for in January but which never happens

17.5C this afternoon. It felt nice with the winds being much lighter than recently and a good deal of sunshine around. We did have a brief shower earlier but not enough to soak the ground.

Yesterday about 8mm taking month total over 70mm which is closing in on 2x normal as April is usually our driest month.

We are now almost three quarters of the way through the month at the very time of year when it should be getting warmer (it is supposed to be British 'Summer' Time after all) and yet, last night was actually our coldest night of this month so far with an official air frost being recorded as the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank dropped to -1.4°C.

I was able to see a lovely sunrise earlier on this morning though and there is still some clear sky around with the odd brighter spell, but there is also quite a lot of cloud around.

As at 7am BST (06:00 UTC) this morning, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was still a very cold (for this time of year) -0.5°C.

That in my books, is the polar opposite of getting a temperature of over 20°C here in October which would then have been referred to as an Indian Summer and so despite the lack of cold weather over the last several months stretching back into last winter, this is very much the polar opposite of that.
