Anyway, overnight rain has cleared away here in Edinburgh but it's till rather dull and overcast.

Currently around 6°C here in Edinburgh as at 8am GMT (08:00 UTC) this morning.

Dull and damp with low cloud and drizzle, 3.0 mm so far. Yesterday was the better day of the weekend with more in the way of bright spells.

Not quite the improvement in the weather as was expected today, as it's stayed mostly cloudy. That said, it did get up to 15.5°C in a spell of sunshine before, making it the warmest day since October.

A couple of hours ago, as I was coming home, there was low cloud down to about 300-400 feet on the Downs near Brighton. At least it had stopped raining; the roads this morning were diabolical, standing water everywhere.

Now back home and it's brightened up somewhat.

The earlier showers appear to have died away, the skies have cleared and the Sun is back out here in Edinburgh.

It's even feeling pleasantly warm as well with a temperature of around 13°C as at 4:40pm GMT (16:40 UTC) this afternoon.

It's now clouding over a bit here in Edinburgh but with the earlier sunshine, the temperature got up to almost around 14°C which actually makes today our warmest day of this year so far.

As at 4pm GMT (16:00 UTC) this afternoon though, the temperature has dropped back to around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

Happy Spring (Vernal) Equinox everyone.
