I can't believe how much bad luck we've had here, all afternoon there has been frequent claps of thunder to the north and south of our location, I mean continuously from around mid day, but absolutely nothing above., very annoyed to say the least.

It's a sunny evening but breezy and we've been on the edge of the convective stuff with a few minutes of light rain.

Most of the afternoon it's been blue sky out in the Channel and thundery-looking clouds to the north - a brief sprinkle in Chichester early evening but while I was driving home earlier  there were reports of one lane of the M23 closed because of floods.

EDIT - apparently not just one lane but the whole motorway, and railway closed for fallen tree

Not quite as widespread as yesterday but definitely potential for some decent convection this afternoon probably more in the east. Hopefully will get to see some storms today after being in about the only spot that didn’t see any!

New warning released - will that happen every time there is a thunderstorm now or are they much worse than they used to be?!

I was down in Leith this morning about midday as a heavy downpour came through with a couple of thunderclaps as it moved out into The Forth

Had a passing thunder storm over Slough recently but nothing compare to Cyprus storms last Saturday that brought lot of hail storms snow cover alike and temperatures fell to 13.8C during the hailing,  That 17C below the 30C May average so that very impressive.  Unlike here same temperature on today storm and no heat at first.

Just recently had quite a deluge of rain with hail mixed in. 16mm of rain, much of that fell in around half an hour.

I live in hope, Andy!!! 😁 A mild drizzle here so far. It's been a nice day - mowed the lawn, put up the "Sun Bubble" and the tomatoes are installed in it...

Quite hard to predict using the radar whether anything of note will arrive due to the slow moving and constantly intensifying and decaying bands of rain.
6mm so far today from fairly unremarkable moderate bursts of rain.

Thunder in the air. Storms appear to be close by and zero mention of them in the forecast 🤣

Some really heavy rain a few minutes ago and the lightning map shows a few strikes not so far away. No thunder here though.

Not so sure there was no mention. When I got up this morning the BBC wrote this:

Showers will start to develop through the afternoon, these likely heavy and thundery. Some may merge into prolonged spells of rain.

This is the metoffice

"Patchy rain in the west early on, becoming dry through the morning. Elsewhere dry throughout, cloudy at first with sunny spells developing through the afternoon. Sunshine becoming more prolonged into the evening as clear skies spread west."
