Ah, crap.

Probably going to end up around 14.8c-15.0c

Not a disaster, but really needed a bullseye this month to put me back in contention

I'm surprised how chilly the end of September has been well done to those who guessed right/close 👍

I'm surprised the figure has been driven down just as much as it has. I went for 14.52C which puts me in a very good position this month. Helps to make up for the poor August I had!

Final number is 14.446 which rounds to 14.45c for competition purposes.

So congrats to SSWD and Taylor1740 who were closest with predictions of 14.5

The +0.9C anomaly (1961-90) in September 2022 officially sets the record of 16 consecutive above average months started in June 2021 using the monthy CET Mean stats going back to 1659

Any bets when we we will break the run ?

It really tanked, didn't it? Was 15.4c to the 24th, so to lose almost a whole 1c in 6 days (when it was cool but not really cold) is staggering - although I guess there was a downwards adjustment, too.

It's torpedoed my hopes, though

Awful month of soggy mild filth here like a typical 21st Century October  12.8C (+0.6) mean making it fourth mildest since 2012 with only 2014, 2016 and 2021 milder.

I use mild rather than warm as the stinking month was devoid of warmth. Excess came solely through mean min which was 1.2C above average and only just avoided double digits for a 2nd year at 9.9C.

Failed to reach 20C or drop below 4C. Week of 3rd to 9th had a mean min of 14.4C which is so far without precedent in September - it would be something rarely seen in summer.

Even last September - the warmest on record - only had one min of 14.0C on the warmest night. This horror month saw the temperature remain above 15C for 39 straight hours. Prior to this I had only recorded three 15C+ minima in September in 17 years. 2007, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2017 did not even have a single 15C min the entire year.

A month of everything I despise the most
