Normally a galaxy is described as being X million light years away which the mind can't really grasp, but seeing that galaxy side on and knowing it's 150,000 light years across really brings the scale to life.

Space Weather....

DARK PLASMA EXPLOSION ON THE SUN: Earlier today, the sun hurled a plume of relatively cool, dark plasma into space. Traveling faster than 1.3 million mph, the plume tore through the sun's atmosphere, producing a CME that could sideswipe Earth later this week. Minor to moderate geomagnetic storms are possible beginning Aug. 17th. Developing story @ Spaceweather.com.

I was born too late for the Apollo era so I want to see some people on the moon! We've waited long enough. However the "screw it, let's do it" attitude of the 1960s is long gone. (And yes I know that is largely a good thing, but it doesn't half slow things down!)

China will beat them to it and put a female on the Moon first.

You would think after 50 years the rockets would have got a lot faster

Why cant they use nuclear power?
