My gauge read 5mm, if I wanted to exaggerate I would have said a lot more than that.

We appear to be back to a bang average outlook down here at least, which is fine by me as I’m not a huge fan of heat unless I’m on holiday and sat by a pool. What we do need (and probably aren’t going to get) is some measurable rainfall - I gave up tonight and put on the sprinkler. My lawn is brown and the plants are wilting. Even bigger bonuses for the no-marks at Thames Water!

Not much rain and plenty of blowtorch runs in the GEFS for London this morning.

Temp summary for week 1 shows a very warm area around the Baltic with SE England catching the edge of this; cold spots in Europe are the mountains and N Russia. The concentrated warmth drifts E-wards in week 2 but W Europe still looks pleasant, and there's some Very hot stuff in S Spain. Dry in Spain and the Baltic now, both areas moving further NE; for Britain, wet in Ireland week 1, less rain in week 2 and that near Shetland.

FAX shows LPs ca 990 mb, one near NI/W Scotland for the next couple of days, replaced by one further W from Ireland in the middle of nect week; quite a complex set of fronts and troughs but none of them getting across to SE England after tonight

GFS Op continues from FAX but is then a bit different from yesterday, with Britain between Azores and Scandi HPs, even a shallow LP centre next Friday 1st, before the Azores HP grows slowly, N/NW winds for a while until HP becomes properly centred over UK 1030mb Sun 10th.

GEFS is cool to Tue 28th then mean near norm (for the SE a base of ens members near norm and any outliers on the warm side, more evenly distributed further N). A few ens members show small amounts of rain in the SE from Fri 1st, starting earlier and  increasing in amount towards the NW

ECM similar to GFS but keeps Britain under the LP col for a couple of days longer after Fri 1st

Good timing so that date 1-2 July to go to Work so likely around 25C temps if London go to 28-30C.

The BBC last night indicated a possible warm up after next week which looks very warm as it is for the Eastern side of the UK.

Quite a warm up on the continent showing up for the turn of the month.
Although not overly so.

If we’re to tap into any ‘blowtorch’ heat it would need to come from a more direct southerly quarter. I.e Plumage.

It must be some sort of meteorological record: the driest washout of all time.

Indeed. We’ll need a good dose of sunscreen with those brollies for splashing around in the dry puddles.

The summer 2022 unsettled wash out continues apace with unbroken sunshine and temps well into the 20's again here. When will it end ?

We've just had a heavy shower. More possible through the evening.

Had similar yesterday.

Fair enough, it does seem like there has been a lack of rain so far, and given that the models show low pressure over the UK for much of next week and there still seems to be a lack of much needed rain in the forecast, even away from the SE, it does seem a bit strange. Not sure what is causing what look to be unsettled charts to not deliver any useful rain to many parts of the country.
