The media really should be taking this one by the scruff of the neck. I didn’t even get a news alert of Sky or the BBC.

The rarity of a red warning should be enough to issue start warnings to the public. Latest info suggest north wales and some parts of the NW should also be in the red zone

Here in Edinburgh, this is the closest which we have come to being in a red warning area for anything since we were under that red warning for snow during the Beast from the East event back in February/March 2018. SInce we are not quite under the current red warning area, that should tell you just how rare that is (even any sort of "interesting" weather doesn't exactly happen very often here in Edinburgh after all).

As for coverage by the mainstream media, I'm sure that this would probably be the main news event with much more widespread coverage than what we are seeing, if this was happening in the south of England rather than here in that NE corner of the UK.

I was just thinking the same.  It's noisy enough already and I think the worst is not for 3-4 hours here... glad we're all inside the house and that I don't need to go anywhere.  I'll be amazed if the lights stay on.

ICOn has upgraded tonights mess, going for 120mph on north east coasts, and makes more of the Merseyside/north wales impact too

Also alot more wind and snow in the forecast for Northern England

The wind hasn't got any stronger here since around 1pm this afternoon and all of the nearby preciptation keeps on skirting around here, whilst continually refusing to actually fall here. This proves the point that precipitation (and not just snowfall) is increasingly becoming something which never occurs here any more in our increasingly desrt-like and arid climate and it is this sort of thing which is the very reason why this month is clearly now going to go down as our driest November on record.

What all is this is doing is just basically showing us yet again, that we just don't get "interesting" weather in this part of the world any more, like what we used to.

Didn't Edinburgh do well in February for Snow?  I also thought you had several hours of thunderstorm last year?

What I have noticed as well is that the rain radar map is now telling me that it is raining here and yet, everything is still looking bone dry as per usual. Have you also noticed though that a certain other member from your part of the world with the name of Richard has gone very quiet these days, ao I'm wondering what he will be perceiving all of this.
