Torrential rain here within the last hour which unfortunately coincided exactly with my walk home from work.I was only in t-shirt & shorts and even though I at least had a brolly it was that heavy I still managed to get soaked to the skin. Torrents flooding down the pavements, shoes filling with water. Thunderwise nothing special, just a few rumbles.

Nothing in Glasgow all day. A clear area on radar, albeit in the Yellow met office warning zone.

Back to Grassington now and the Dales Storm has rumbled away NE. Nothing spectacular, heavy rain and a few cloud to ground. Now a new line of storms breaking out to the west with deep rumbles and impressive towers shooting up

If anything, it is actually worse here in that regard because our previous yellow warning for thunderstorms was actually upgraded by the Met Office to an amber warning with that supposedly coming into effect at 12 noon.

It has clouded over a bit here now after some earlier sunshine, but it continues to remain as bone dry as ever in this part of the world.

The latest radar map is showing a small cluster of showers to my SW, but these don't look like amounting to much and there aren't any lightning strikes showing up with that on the detector maps.

Furthermore, I wouldn't even rely on us actually getting any of those showers here anyway, given that Edinburgh generally doesn't get "interesting" weather.

A couple of storms have passed us by but haven’t heard so much as a rumble and we’re still warm and dry here.

I experienced 3 separate thunderstorms today in the Yorkshire Dales. First rain I've seen since 13/7 in Edinburgh. Quite novel to get wet!

I wasn't actually in Edinburgh on that day as I was down in the Scottish Borders where there was a couple of showers during that evening, but that was my one and only blot within what actually turned out to be my hottest and sunniest week down there since 2014.

As far as Edinburgh is concerned, our last significant rainfall across all three of my local stations came two days earlier on 11 July 2021, the day before the day when I travelled down to the Scottish Borders and as I write, we have still had no measurable rainfall here since 13 July.

With all of the hot weather which we have had, this has resulted in the ground becoming baked hard and solid, so we could really do with getting some rain now.

I have more but i've had issues with my phone since the storm so still need to upload to youtube. Looks like the nearest 'official' station picked up an inch from the storm however certainly more than fell over the city.

we saw over 20mm of rain in an hour yesterday, making it one of the most intense rain events from a storm in recent years. had a bit of thunder in it, but not too much. Say 1 strike every 3 or 4 mins. What was impressive was there was no cell there an hour before It erupted quickly.

anyone got eyes and ears up in Scotland? that rain band hasnt really shifted much since last night... theres an Amber warning out for it. 100mm +?
