Lydd airport is reporting a dewpoint of 22C with a temperature of 25C. What is the record UK dewpoint I wonder?

That’s sauna territory!

Expecting the sun to break out here within the next hour. With the rain showers earlier, it’s going to feel steamy.

I think to get all time records we need a brisk southerly wind, with warm air advection from the continent. Last 2 records, plus the event in late July and the one day wonder in 2015, all had accelerating S or SE winds ahead of a trough to the west, and a conveyor belt of really hot upper air. This week's stagnant hot airmass is enough to bring us mid 30s but not enough to get up into the high 30s.

A sudden clearance seems to be on the way from the south. It's been very grey for the last half hour but that looks about to change:

Temp. up to 26.7*C here already, at 9.50am.  A period of light rain around 7am totalling 1.5mm left everything wet, but only of nuisance value, and the ground in direct sun is nearly dry again. DP of 20.6*C is the highest that I've ever seen

We've managed to avoid all the showers here .

28s already for the usual suspects.

Perhaps my weather station isn't overstating the dewpoint after all - air 23.4, dew 20.7 at the moment. The few drips of rain we had have already evaporated and it feels steamy out there.

Even though it's cloudy, once the sun comes out the temperatures should shoot up!

There appears to be a lot of cloud over the London area still. It is to the south east of me, drifting slowly north and partially blocking the sun at the moment. The rest of the sky is clear. It reminds me of last Friday when it clouded over slowly from the west, in the afternoon of course and so blocked out our sunlight while the eastern half of the sky was still clear for an hour or so.

And Gatwick has also hit a rounded 30 on the 10.20am METAR.

Heathrow and Shoreham a rounded 29.

Almost neck and neck with 2003, which had 29.6 at 9.50am and 31.5 at 10.50am.

2019 had a more freakish early rise with 31.6C at Heathrow by 10am but then it stalled around midday.

Last July Heathrow was over 33C by 11am. Without the cloud it surely could have hit 39 or even 40 that day!
