8.45am and it's 28C in my home office. Only 23C outside though and a fair bit of altocumulusy clag about

Interesting - the Wundermap shows that there are plenty of 27s and 28s in your neck of the woods. This spell certainly has shown some remarkably localised warmth!

Down here on the western fringes of the New Forest, it’s actually the first start to the day of this heatwave that’s had the ‘unbelievably hot feel already, really hot day coming’ as sensation to it.

Mainly due to a lack of any wind and relative humidity in the 80s %. There was a slight mist until about 6 am.

Preceding few days all took surprisingly long to reach hot numbers (to me, 28*C +). Today feels like it’ll be different, unless clouds develop or arrive.

As expected the Met have got rid of the 37s on the automated output, showing 36 for today and tomorrow now for Heathrow.

Looks like this could be the last really hot, potential record-breaking day. The BBC 5-day forecast has downgraded tomorrow's max. to 32c presumably due to all the anticipated thunderstorm activity and Thursday has gone down from 29c to 28c.

Whats the bet that today we beat it and actually reach 37C. Temperatures have that acceleration feel today.

Maybe. But it will totally depend on cloud. Date records are under threat today and tomorrow though.

24.6c @9am | DP 19c | Humidity 71% | Hazy sunshine

Feeling very hot like the tropics, temperature increasing at 1.5c per hour. About the same temperature as 31st July, could be on course to get +37c.

Arpege still going for 35c quite widely tomorrow. Even a cheeky 36c in EA.

I bet you we don't. I think it will be pretty much as yesterday.

Down here, we've had steady light rain for the past hour which is really suppressing the temperature. Such a relief!

Yo yo yo. 148-3 to the 3 to the 6 to the 9, representing the ABQ, what up, biatch?

Date record seems fair game today. It would be a shame if we didn't bag a couple of date records during such a hot spell of weather.

They don't here! Pretty grey and doesn't feel that hot. 24C.

Heathrow 25.8C at 9am which is a degree or so down on the 2003 record.

Tim - we have already got two date records this month - 7th and 8th.

A think a number would be pretty pissed off if going through this does not convert into a good storm. For some it’s already delivered on that front.

Same even in here too temperatures seem to wait for sun to come out to shoot up.   Troublesome this heatwave with clouds around doing nothing.  18.2C last night at 5am and now 20.5C as it stalled from no sun yet as it would had been around 25-26C and get to 31C or 32C in here, was 30.6C yesterday because clouds was late to clear, if early would had gone to 32C.
