I do not envy those in the SE of England with these sort of temps at all. Will be envious though when the inevitable thunderstorms get going over there over this weekend. 

I think the al time record is still safe.

Yes that's been my thinking. Wind seems to be gusting a bit more westerly here now and the temperature has fallen a couple of tenths. Maybe 45 mins before the cloud blocks the sun.

Heathrow currently only showing 34.0C for the 2pm figure but they often update after a few mins.

Just looking at the latest Arome run. It only shows a max of 29-30C for Heathrow tomorrow, which is some 6-7C lower than the Met Office forecast. High temps look to be restricted to the far south tomorrow on that run. 

Arpege also only going for 32C max tomorrow. Looks like the models have done a big about turn on the weekend!

iPhone weather app has also slashed the forecast with 34, 31, 31, 31 for London from tomorrow. Something has changed big time.

Levelled off at 34.4*C here (2:15pm).

That's a very interesting map, especially as I didn't know it existed until now.  I'm pleased to see that it confirms what I've been posting on TWO for many weeks about the local low soil moisture level in west Kent (and Surrey), which is the lowest in the country, along with coastal Norfolk, central South Coast, and south Devon areas.

Maybe factoring in more instability? Can’t see whet other major change there would be at 24 hours out. Or cloud ovarhang from today?

Heathrow was 35.4 at 2pm. I have no idea why Weathercast put 34.0C in as the rounded figure.

Re above it will be interesting to see if the Met drastically revise their website forecasts downwards over the next few hours.

ECM forecast maxes this weekend (add a couple of degrees as a rule of thumb).

The weak trough to the west has not been well forecasted. More activity than expected on that line so will influence things as the afternoon progresses

Some cloud overhead here now but very fragmented.

Temperature has reached 33.9C so nearly up to the 34.5C last Friday.

Jiries is going to have a meltdown over this cloud
