It’s a little worrying that we’ve heard nothing from GW and I really am hoping it’s because he’s busy with work and not because he’s ill.  Those are the only reasons he’s been absent in the past.  I think if he’d just wanted to give up the CET threads, he’d have said so and I’m still hopeful he’ll carry on with them when he’s able.

It would be a shame for us not to carry on, even if in a scaled down form.  I wouldn’t want to take on the task of analising the entries because it’s a mammoth task and I don’t have the knowledge to do the temperature analysis and forecasts that GW does.  However, there’s nothing to stop us posting our predictions and declaring monthly winners.  It’s not quite the same but it’s the best I can suggest.

On a previous thread, GW posted the following for historical May CET:

1971-2000 11.3C (30 years)

1981-2010 11.7C (30 years)

1998-2017 12.1C (last 20 years)

Please ignore the above!  GW is running the company as usual, so please send predictions to him by pm!

Suspicious of April and May both being warm- apart from 2018, which broke the mould, there have been some with one warm and one a degree or thereabouts above average, including 2009, 2014 and 2017.

I'm going to go for that- so a 12.2 guess from me.

A lovely April has a tendency (from memory) to be followed by a grotty May. Expect around average temperatures 🙂

11.9C as a guess.

Continuing the concern for GW, I note in his profile his birthday is 1925; I didn't realise he was quite so senior. That is worrying in terms of risk groups. Does anybody know how else he might be contacted?

I know his name is Simon and he lives (or works maybe) near my eldest in Chineham; this is grim.
