Tromso at 69N and 3 degrees into the arctic circle is enjoying 24 hour daylight at the moment.

Worth a look. The time lapse is impressive too.

Good view from that cam. Like it better than the harbor cam.

Some exptionally cold conditions at Geirangerfjord cruise port. Temp down to -11C and I think night minima have been in minus double digits for some days now. You can see ice forming on the fjord. Quite remarkable as I don't think you would expect sea ice to form at that location at any time during an aerage winter, let alone during the first half of November.
And to think it was only a couple of weeks ago the cruise season finished!

You could see plenty of Ice floating about in the Fjord during the last winter here (earlier this year) it can get cold enough that far north that the sea will start freezing close to land.

I've seen frozen sea on the north coast of Holland back in February 1986 whilst on a school geography trip! Pretty cool to witness

The average max for Geiranger is 4C and the min -1C for both Jan & Feb which on the face of it doesn't seem all that cold and conducive to much sea ice formation except in a severe winter. That said, it may be the sea but it is well inland (if that makes sense!) and will be extremely well well sheltered compared to a normal coastline and won't be subjected to the same waves and tides.

Yesterday evening I was ‘skyping’ with friends in Calgary which was midday local time. I asked about the weather and it was -9C and snowing! In April.

A very snowy Easter Sunday at the Santa Claus village in Finland. Previously, the snow cover here had showed some signs of thawing.

It will be interesting to see if Stelvio simply thaws away naturally this year.
http://www.solda2000.com/webstelvioen.htm
The buildings will need access for maintenance and could be partially open by mid-summer perhaps.
