A total of 10.8 mm of rain fell at Edinburgh Gogarbank during the 24 hour period up until 9am this morning, along with 7.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
For Edinburgh Gogarbank, this brings the total for this month to 32.6 mm, the total for this winter to 102.2 mm and the total for this year to 32.6 mm as at 9am this morning.
For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this brings the total for this month to 24.8 mm, the total for this winter to 73.8 mm and the total for this year to 24.8 mm as at 9am this morning.
As it is currently still raining as I write, those above totals are unlikely to be today's final totals. Whilst this hasn't been a massively wet winter here so far, there has already been more rain at both of those stations during this month as what there was in the same month during last year, with that also being the case in December as well.In addition to that, there has also been more rain during this winter at both of those stages than what there was during the whole of winter 2018/19 which was even drier than that preceding really hot, dry and sunny summer of 2018.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
