38.1C in Cambridgeshire is exactly what I went for in the N**w****** competition. I went for 38.3C here as it had already been taken!

I think there's still time towards Cambridge. I'm well off the record here to the east at 35.3C but the temperature has gone up 0.5C in the last ten minutes.

Latest from Cambridge is 38.1C up to 1600 BST. As things stand the second highest temperature ever recorded in the UK - second only to Faversham in 2003.

As it stands I'd give the win to Tractor boy on the basis he also added a location (northolt) and that location was closer (and less vauge) than the others.

Thibk we could go a little higher if we get more clear spells but I think 34.8 will probably be the max. This is the hottest day I have ever felt in Leeds.

I remember Gravesend was 38.1 at the end of the day in 2003 and Faversham pipped it the next day. Could happen again.

My weather station has recorded 39.9C at 16:20 but I actually trust that less than the garden thermometer in my last post.
