Conclusion:
I could pick any station in my local area as the basis for my main report on this thread, and this wouldn't change the fact that it was a very poor winter from a cold and snow perspective.
However, the number of official air frosts was much closer to the 1981-2010 average overall at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, than was the case at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This was enough to mean that the number of official air frosts at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh wasn't all that far below the long term average.
This is enough to earn one more point in my book so as far as the winter at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, I will give that 2/10 (the reason for the other point is the same reason why I awarded that for this winter at Edinburgh Gogarbank as detailed in my opening post on this thread).
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
