Kenley reported 17*C at 11 am in the morning so already only a few shy of the winter record that was annihilated yesterday. Madness!
Regarding wildlife, it's a good job the models and other signals are generally painting a pretty mobile picture for the first half of March; this should limit frosts to occasional nights between weather systems.
It's actually looking thoroughly miserable as if as a means to balance out this fine spell. Culprit being the polar vortex taking a holiday due north of the UK during what looks to be a sort of 'last hurrah' before it winds down properly for the spring.
This brings a chance of it settling down more by mid-Month, especially if if the tropical-extratropical propagation of signals can get back on track (it's pretty much derailed at the moment and preventing the usual MJO responses - another strange development this winter!) within the next 10 days.
In the meantime we'll just have to grin and bear it once this sensational spell of weather draws to a close.
