Well, this is so frustrating!!

Last night was a lot colder than of late under clear skies and very little wind and yet, it just didn't quite get cold enough for an official air frost at any of my three local stations and so, our frost-free hell goes on.

That in turn makes it hard to believe that at around this time last year, we were recording official ice days in this part of the world, even going into the first day of the meteorological spring.

Nevertheless, that has now taken us into a bright and sunny morning.which means that a total of 48 minutes of sunshine has already been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 9am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 0.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 0°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9am this morning was 3.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A mostly sunny morning means that a total of 3.6 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, although there is now a bit more in the way of high to medium cloud around which is moving in from the west.

Nevertheless, today is another mild day for the time of year after the temperatures went up by quite a bit during this morning, but it is quite a lot cooler than what it has been recently.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Another stormer of a day!

Full sun but impacted by a golden haze from the fog just lifted.

Sun feels strong.

It is “only” 10°C here currently but feels very pleasant in the sunshine with light winds. A gorgeous spring day and set to get warmer here over the next couple of days.

From 1.6c this morning to 17.6c this afternoon, glorious day with clear blue skies. Lots of blossom and daffodils out, a couple of months early.

It's been a very strange day here in Edinburgh in many ways.

There has been plenty of sunshine and a total of hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at pm this afternoon.

For a while though, we had a bank of low cloud and even that east coast haar which reduced visibility by quite a lot for a brief period of time. Clear blue skies have now returned, but there continues to be a lot of cloud around.

In addition to that, today has still been another mild day, but it has been nowhere near as warm as what it has been recently.

Today's maximum temperature was 10.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which are far more sensible values for this time of the year.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 8.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Gosh! Talking about Benign weather!

If it wasn't for Friday's fog during day which held temps back we would now have have had 2 weeks with daytime max temperatures between 10 and 15c by day! - Either way - can never remember it being so mild /warm for so long in the month of February. Just crazy!

7.5c now and clear - less fog than recent nights! (so far). Pressure is 1041mb.

There was some cloud around just before sunset but in the end, a total of 5.9 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

The skies are now fairly clear with the temperatures dropping away, so the temperature at 8pm this evening was 5.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
