Hi, Ian! Hazy sunshine here, misty and calm. Just been out to check that it's still freezing in the shade, as I was doubting my temp. sensor that is reading -1 C .. yep, frozen solid, lol no drip .. drip .. drip! Potentially an ice day here :-O

Pressure has risen to 1005 mb. 

However, this wasn't enough to shift much of the frost which means that there is still plenty of that around. Having said that though, there is now more in the way of cloud around and when that happens, the temperature then generally refuses to drop at night due to there being too much cloud around.

Today's maximum temperature was 2.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 1.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 0°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

I haven't noticed any rain here, although I have noticed that everything is a bit damp. In addition to that, I have also noticed that the rather measly total of just 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm this evening along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. However, that is such a small total that this could have just been caused by condensation rather than any actual rainfall and there has been nothing recorded at either of those stations for around the time of your post.

Having said that, this was probably just one of those several occasions which are quite common where we get a brief period of rain which is barely enough to even wet the ground, let alone actually register as recorded rainfall and that is one reason why the weather in this part of the world is always so boring, as well as the fact that even with the weather being as cold as it is just now with just about everywhere else getting some snow, we still cannot get that in this part of the world regardless of how cold it actually becomes.

As I write though, the skies are now much clearer and rather interestingly, an official air frost has once again been recorded at both Edinburgh Gogarbank and the botanic gardens, but not at Edinburgh Airport. However, the temperature has been below freezing at both of those two stations for the last few hours, but is refusing to drop any further (in the last hour, the temperature at all three of my local stations has actually jumped back up a bit).

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was -0.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and -0.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
