Still not much happening here.

The last couple of days have brought a few glimpses of the Sun with a total of just 6 minutes of sunshine being recorded over the last three days at Edinburgh Gogarbank (yesterday was the second of two completely sunless days which we have had during that period).

There was finally, some rain earlier on during yesterday evening although that has now cleared away. Nevertheless, this resulted in a total of 1.0 mm of rain being recorded for yesterday in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank (where yesterday will go down as an official rain day as a result) along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Yesterday morning's minimum temperature was -3.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -5°C at Edinburgh Airport and -2.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Yesterday's maximum temperature was 4.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 2.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There is quite a decent ground frost around this morning although the temperatures have as usual, failed to drop low enough to bring us an official air frost at any of my three local stations. The Sun was shining just a while ago, although there is a lot of cloud around as well to my west in particular.

So far, 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 9am this morning thanks to a shower of rain, although the botanic gardens in Edinburgh are still dry so far.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9am this morning was 1.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 0°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Spits of rain temp rose to 5c and rising after a low of 2c

It's snowing over Dartmoor is leaving/left a slushy deposit!

This is turning out to be a bit of a damb squib this wintry shower - it seems like it's weakening as it's heading towards East Devon and because the sun is hazy it's spitting with rain - thus allowing temperatures to rise and NOT fall in this shower! :(

Lovely winter sunshine but rather damp after 4.2 mm of rain fell in the small hours. The 5.9 c & 80% h felt rather nippy in the westerly breeze when I popped out to put some rubbish in the bin, but no frost or ice was observed this morning as it didn't get any lower than 2.9 c at 10 am as general cloud high cloud associated with the cold front has only just cleared away at that time.

The delightfully benign winter continues where I haven't done that badly in terms of seeing the sun.

We had just a little bit of excitement this morning (which was still not much and a lot less than what is being witnessed elsewhere in the UK but nevertheless, a lot more exciting than what we have had it for quite a long time) as a bit of rain moved through this morning, as one or two of my work colleagues had reported that there had been a few snowflakes mixed in with that although I was too busy to notice that. In any case though, this wintry mix wasn't around for long and it resulted in just a measly 0.2 mm of rain being recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and nothing at all at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

After that though, it became much brighter with increasing amounts of sunshine over time. The end result of this though is that a total of just 54 minutes of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank in the end, although even this very poor total was still far better than what we had got over the previous three days before that.

At the moment, the skies are clear. As a result of that as well, the temperatures are dropping away with an official air frost already being recorded at both Edinburgh Airport and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature which occurred during the very early hours of this morning was 2.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 6pm this evening was 0.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -2°C at Edinburgh Airport and -1.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
