Sad and shocking news this for us NW dwellers.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-46820379

Dianne was a well known mild ramper, but I have grown up with her on TV and she features in my biggest weather memories, especially the snow in January 2010.

Rest in peace Dianne, I’m genuinely sad about this.

As much as she annoyed me with her mild ramping that is awful news. Thoughts are with her family as I know how devastating it is to lose a loved one through the dreaded C word.

It makes it all the more shocking that she appeared at work doing the weather seemingly fit and well only a few weeks ago. She died at the Christie Hospital, just a 2 minute walk from where I live.

Rather fittingly, this part of the world has been shrouded in a horrible, swirling fog for the past couple of days.

Cancer really is an evil sh*t.

Very sad news! I know a lot of winter lovers weren't her biggest fan because she was a mild ramper, but I quite liked her.

Rest in peace Dianne!

Terrible news this morning.

Doesn't seem long since she was last on TV

RIP Dianne

Was shocked and saddened to wake up to this news. She has been on North West new for as long as I can remember. I have fond memories of the Gordon Burns - Dianne Oxberry combination and it was literally weeks ago that she was last presenting the weather as bright as ever. I had noticed that she has been absent for a month or so. Always colourful and happy with a good sense of humour. Will be missed

Until now, I have never heard of this woman or known that she even existed.

Nevertheless, this doesn't make this news any less sad as a result, especially as she has died at an age which is younger than I am just now (and I'm not actually all that old myself, just yet).

Dianne Oxberry, RIP.

As I don't live in the NW region, I never saw her on TV, but I appreciate this is very sad news.  51 is far too young an age to go, and for two young children to lose their mother is indescribably sad.

When I hear these sad stories, I always think to myself, stop complaining about the (in reality) trivial things that I often whinge about.

I do remember her joining BBC North West News - in fact I think I can remember her being introduced as the new face of BBC North West weather.

Early on, she used to bug me with her fondness for mild weather, which she was never shy of expressing. But she was so open it soon stopped mattering. In fact, she'd gently mock herself at times about it.

She'd still do the BBC local radio forecasts in the region as well. I tend to listen to Radio Merseyside on my way home and if she was forecaster, there'd always be a bit of banter. The presenter before the current one was particularly funny with her, and she'd play up her grumpy/cynical persona. And she's do this with the presenters of other BBC local radio channels in the region, too (as well as jointly presenting for Radio Manchester)

As you say, a household name in the region. Not least for her often peculiar fashion choices. My missus would always say "What the hell has she got on today?".

She'll be sadly missed.

Such very sad news. I thought I'd seen her doing the weather just a few days ago but obviously I am mistaken. I'm sure NW Tonight will give her a fine tribute this evening.
