Overcast with the temperatures still refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 7.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The torture goes on and on with an 8th consecutive and 10th out of 11 morning of disgusting, depressing frost-free gloom. Min a revolting 6.5C.

There are no words to do this so called winter justice. It just keeps on getting worse and worse.

Here in Edinburgh, the winter borefest goes on as does the frost-free hell which we seem to have been been experiencing for most of the time during this so-called "winter".

Once again, there is nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather, actually happening. It is mostly cloudy although, there are some fairly small areas of blue sky around as well which means that it wouldn't surprise me if today didn't end up being a completely sunless day here.

Nevertheless, that cloud was enough to result in the temperature refusing to drop during the night due to there being too much cloud around, so the temperature at 9am this morning was 6.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There is still a lot of cloud around, but also a few breaks in that cloud. In fact, the Sun is shining through one of those clouds as I speak, although nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Incidentally, I have noticed that although yesterday wasn't quite a completely sunless day at Edinburgh Gogarbank, yesterday was officially a sunless day at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with nothing in the way of sunshine being recorded there for yesterday. This made yesterday, the 5th sunless day of this month there so far, and the 18th sunless day of this winter so far at that station (it is interesting that the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has had more sunshine during this winter so far than Edinburgh Gogarbank, but has also had more completely sunless days during this winter so far). However, I don't see today going down as a completely sunless day at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A little bit more brighter with the setting sun glinting weakly through varied type of cloud, but is now rather damp since 0.4 mm of light rain fell in the small hours with the 90% h maintaining the dampness. A typically seasonal 7.7 c but winds are lighter.

The cloud has become thicker once again during this afternoon and despite the presence of some sunshine for a brief while at lunchtime, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today in the end, at Edinburgh Gogarbank. Given that we did see that bit of sunshine at lunchtime, this is unlikely to be the case at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where I would expect there to have been around 6 minutes or so of recorded sunshine during today as a result. For Edinburgh Gogarbank though, this makes today the 5th completely sunless day of this month, the 5th sunless day of this year and the 17th sunless day of this winter.

However, today is yet another mild day within this complete non-event which is known as "winter" and so, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 8.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

It's still rather cloudy here in Edinburgh and in addition to that, the wind has picked up quite a lot as well.

This means that the temperature is now refusing to drop not just because of there being too much cloud around, but also because of there being too much wind around as well.

Today's maximum temperature was 9.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 7.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
