It looks rather wet outside and there might have been a bit of rain here a short time ago, but we have had no measurable rain during this morning so far, and although this hasn't been a particularly dry month here so far, we are lagging behind the rest of the country in terms of this month's rainfall. Generally, this morning is just a continuation of that same old boring theme here with constant grey skies and nothing which is even remotely interesting, actually happening.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 4.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so no official air frost this time.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The horror show is back. After a few days respite the wind is once again coming from the SE quarter and it's absolutely disgusting. 5.7C, wet and dark.

More gloom... and it would be nice if the ground could dry out for a change.

Still mostly overcast here with some light rain and drizzle and although it is a little bit brighter than what it was earlier on, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

The wind has picked up quite a lot during this morning as well with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon getting up to 39.1mph from the SW.

I mentioned earlier on that there might have been a little bit of rain this morning and indeed, a total of 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far as at 12 noon along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

At the same time though, this so-called "winter" now appears to have gone completely down the toilet pan for now at least as today is a very mild day to the extent that the temperatures have reached double figures at all three of my local stations for the first time this winter.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 11.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which for all three of my local stations, already makes today the mildest day of the winter so far by quite a considerable margin.

This afternoon brought some very welcome sunshine to these parts as the skies cleared but at this time of the year, it is very difficult to get a decent sunshine total for any given day if there has been no recorded sunshine by 12 noon unlike in the summer months when you can still easily get quite a good sunshine total for that day even if the Sun doesn't come out until that afternoon. That was reflected quite well today because in the end, a total of just 48 minutes of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today was also a very mild day for this time of the year and today's maximum temperature was 11.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, the temperatures have started to drop quite nicely under those clearer skies and so, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 9.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Been a pretty m'eh day with overcast skies and just the odd spit of light drizzle in the air (gauge remains untipped at 0.0 mm since 12 am) with 92% h keeping the dampness going. But the mild air with current temp being at 12.4 c and winds being light meant the central heating hardly needed any effort to warm my house up today.

It still looks fairly clear just, although it's difficult to tell when it's dark outside but there is too much wind around which means that the temperatures are now refusing to drop as a result of that.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 8.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
