There has been the odd very brief spell of hazy sunshine during this morning, but the day has mostly started off an a rather damp and overcast note. The rain from earlier on cleared away just after I opened this thread at just after midnight, but there has been further rain during the last few hours. The result of this is that a total of 2.0 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 2.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations.
Last night's minimum temperature was 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Those temperatures were reached during the early part of yesterday evening.
Given that a warm front has just moved through from the SE though, it's not actually as mild just now as I had thought that it would be although it is still fairly mild. On that note though, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
