As we enter Guy Fawke's Day (which will then take us into Bonfire Night), I can report that it is now raining here in Edinburgh as Saturday's weather front has returned from the SE. That is forecast to re-introduce the milder air from a day or so ago and in response to that, the temperatures are already refusing to drop.

In the end, a total of 1.8 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which means that yesterday will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations as a result.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Strange setup this morning...Heavy rain falling through an overcast sky but the sunrise was enough to produce a lovely deep pink glow reflecting on the A/S. Winds light SE, 9.6c

There has been the odd very brief spell of hazy sunshine during this morning, but the day has mostly started off an a rather damp and overcast note. The rain from earlier on cleared away just after I opened this thread at just after midnight, but there has been further rain during the last few hours. The result of this is that a total of 2.0 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 2.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations.

Last night's minimum temperature was 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Those temperatures were reached during the early part of yesterday evening.

Given that a warm front has just moved through from the SE though, it's not actually as mild just now as I had thought that it would be although it is still fairly mild. On that note though, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Altostratus cover clearing to the NW leaving patchy altostratus with some cirrus visible in the breaks, allowing weak sunshine through.  No rain, but overnight heavy mist/light fog has left vegetation dripping wet.  Calm.

9.7*C after an overnight minimum of 6.3*C at 7.45am.

Afternoon from a warm, dry and bright Folkestone where the 14.7 c & 83% h in light winds felt balmy when I popped out in just shorts & cardigan.

I'm trying not to look too much into the medium range outputs as it'd only depress me.

The rain from this morning has cleared away now, but this morning has remained mostly cloudy and although we are now starting to see more in the way of hazy sunshine coming through, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 11.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There appears to have been plenty of sunshine during this afternoon and yet, a total of just exactly an hour of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon with that looking likely to be today's final total.

Today's maximum temperature was 11.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and so despite the fact that we are in a so-called "warmer" air mass than what we were in yesterday, today has still managed to end up being slightly cooler than yesterday although it is still fairly mild nevertheless.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 9.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

At first glance, it looks a bit misty although a lot of that is probably due to the smoke from all of the bonfires which are around. Apart from that, not an awful lot is actually happening and although the temperature has dropped a bit during the course of the last few hours, it hasn't done so by all that much.

As a result of that, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 7.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
